It will be interesting to see if the charge is graded or they send him straight to the judiciary. He lifts his knee high and hold its there, pushes off his right leg and has both feet off the ground at impact. I reckon 10 weeks and I'm a Warriors fan.

Mate, I've slowed that right down on replay. I've changed my opinion and think you're spot on. There is a definite raise of the knee that is unnecessary and is certainly not there for protection. I think it is bad enough for a lengthy holiday.

The only positive that I can see for Hurrell is that Tupou's tackling technique was very poor. When I first played rugby league I was taught how to tackle correctly and when tackling from side on to drive in with the shoulder and make sure my head was behind the ball carrier. Tupou unfortunately gets his head in front of Hurrell and it almost looks like Hurrell is using his head for target practice and if he was he didn't miss.

Zero. That's how Hurrell goes into contact. It's how he's gone into contact for his entire NRL career. How can the NRL possibly ban him for a running style that they've condoned and championed (highlights clips etc) for years. Konrad raises that left knee before contact half the time. A referee has never told him he's not allowed to. The NRL have never come in and told him he's not allowed to do it. I've never seen opposition players complain about it. Never seen opposition fans complain about it. Never seen a commentator so much as mention it. Because a player dives at his knee and gets a broken jaw he's suddenly doing something illegal?

http://gfycat.com/WildTatteredHoneybadger (notice in the real time view he goes to lift the leg and do his mortal kombat knee slide into contact trademark but is hit be Foran which stops him in the process)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_os_tWc0AI ( Titans tackle break at 18 seconds = same technique)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AY2Xpl0UOQE (v Rabbitohs - same raised knee going into contact with Walker... front-on view is at about 50 seconds in. Sure it's not as pronounced because walker didn't throw himself at Hurrels feet, but you can see he often gets a good step off his right foot and leans in with the left knee when he's bumping people off. It's not hard to miss because usually it looks like something out of a cartoon how he glides into contact lol)

Even the other famous Hurrell try against the Rabbitohs, the one the media were all over, he probably raises that left knee a bit when bumping off Goodwin

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNY9sR1dQWQ (raises the same leg at the last line of defence to take some momentum into the tackle)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WT09Hil4UR4 (same shit in this big hit when bumping off some Storm players)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YgCIUcAdPQ (his first ever run in the NRL is at 58 seconds where he leads with the knee and bumps off Watmough)

Sharks fans have every reason to feel hard done by and feel that Hurrell is a grub. But let's make no mistake here. The NRL is responsible for Anthony Tupou having a broken jaw right now. The NRL has been complicit in not only allowing Konrad to raise the knee when going into contact, they've actively celebrated him doing it by using those runs in highlights packages.

I reckon he'll get suspended though. It's textbook NRL. As soon as an injury happens they act like it's some whole new thing and they haven't been turning a blind eye to it for years :lol:

I mean Vossy even said when he watched it live "nice bump" lmao. We all know that no injury = no case to answer and his leaning in with the knee is never mentioned

It's a weird case that people either think it's a big suspension or should be completely exonerated. It's like there's no middle ground in the argument. I think it's a flaw in konrad's running style that he leads with the knee and he's finally be caught out.

Six weeks for mine but I think he'll get four at most. He needs to get that technique corrected ASAP and needs a least a month to work on it...and have a shave.
