How many years to fix Kearney's mess?

with our under 20's finishing 15th i can't see us unearthing anything to help us from that young squad next year

To be fair, we have a fair few kids in under 20s who stepped up from the juniors. There are a couple of good prospects, but I don't think they'll be ready next year.

BTW, I don't agree with the title of this thread. This club was a mess long before Kearney got here.

It only takes an off season to turn a footy club around. Given our roster for next year and how we've performed this season I'm not positive, but you never know. One thing is for sure signing Kearney has probably been the worst decision made by the club in the past 20 years.

Please, we made a Grand Final (after finishing eighth) in 2009, and were a win away from finishing eighth again the following year, fairly consistent two years in the regular season to be honest.

You cant compare Kearney side with anderson . Teak kearney did jack shit but he has rebuild the squad with younger players

We have some youngsters playing well for Wenty. Plus there's Loko and Seage to come back from injury.

If you think our club was well run before Kearney got here, you're kidding yourself.

Yes, we played about 8 good games in 2009 and made the GF. 2010 we missed out on the 8.

At the end of 2010, we lost Inu, Mateo, Keating, Wright, Mitchell, Tahu, Cayless and Grothe and signed some of the biggest nuffies (with the exception of Maitua and Paulo) ever to wear Eels colours. And you wonder why we struggled in '11 and '12?

A professionally run club would've signed some talent to cover those losses. Not us though. Add to that the signing of an unproven assistant from Melbourne, and that's where we are now. Kearney's mess? Yes, he played a part, but who signed the bloke?

One off season - we can score points but lack effort in defence . Every side Ricky has coached has improved their defence in the first year by a fair bit. So early prediction we will be pushing for a top eight spot next year

If by "we can score points" you mean we have the 3rd worst attack in the comp, then for sure, we're right on board.

Personally I'm not convinced that will get the job done?


Hopefully we conjure up 2 amazing signings to fill the top 25, but it aint looking too good!
