I think Carrigan has done enough.

Don't think Slater would go this way, but I wouldn't be against having C. Oates off the bench as the wide-running forward.

His pace and power would have good impact in a short stint.

According to the article, Cotter will start at 13 for the Maroons. Badel specifically wrote he's been preferred over Carrigan which leads me to believe Pat will come off the bench.

It's good to see Dearden rewarded for his form as well. Between him and Walker, I feel far more confident in Tom.

Dearden has been simply awesome for NQ this year, glad to see Slater has given him this recognition.

Scoring and creating tries, but it is his effort areas that Slater would have noticed. Always leads the kick chase and rarely misses one on one tackles.

He'll be a long-term Queensland half. Brisbane were foolish to let him go ;)

Just hope he can play on Thursday.

The writing was on the wall as soon as Dearden started touring the North Queensland facilities in the 2021 pre-season. It was over at that stage and it was just another fall-out of their disasterous 2018-20 period for the Broncos.

Badel's report was on the money with the only real shock being Ben Hunt starting over Grant. Considering Grant is carrying an injury, it's understandable plus Grant will be more dangerous coming on later in the game.

It's a quality line-up from Billy and the selectors. I think their lives were made somewhat easier by recent performances. Earlier in the thread I was non-committal with Cobbo and wanted to see how he'd perform now that he was on the radar. Then he went and had his best performance against Newcastle and came up with a huge play in the Titans game that helped swing momentum towards the Broncos.

Similarly Nanai was a stand-out against the competition's heavyweights, it made life so much easier for the selectors.

The one selection that seemed to go against expert opinion is Lindsay Collins. Collins was a stand-out in the 2020 series and while he's made a slow start to the season, he has been getting back to his best in recent weeks. I think he compliments the pack well and he's somebody who can really lift the team in the middle with his carries. There's very few players in the competition who run with as much intent as him and he should thrive in this environment.

Finally, I thought I'd share this post the Cowboys shared on their Twitter of Payten revealing to the team who had made the squad.

I always liked Deardan, I thought he tried really hard in that terrible Broncos side, always gave 100% which is more than you could say for some other players.
