Everyone keeps forgetting we have Winterstein as a ready made centre replacement for Tonga, him and Linnett will be fighting it out for the spare centre spot which can only be a good thIng. As good as Tonga is, he was a ball hog last year and ignored KFFL on far too many occasions and butchered a shitload of trys as a result. All we need is a centre that can defend AND identify the opportunity to put the winger away. Tonga is a great defender bu the other bit?? I don't think we will miss him all that much tbh.

Despite the perennial disappointment when something big is expected of them, I think the Cows will be one of the teams to beat this season, alongside Warriors and Tigers.

But then again, history says all three teams may well end up outside the Top 8…

My dark horse to take it out this year.....that is if they can avoid serious injury to the likes of Thurston / Bowen.

Other players pretty well covered if injured.

Lui is a good option for them short-term, but looking into the future they have better younger halves (ie Thompson). I think they're just feeling the pressure of underperforming the last 2-3 years and are looking for the quick fix.

Lui can lose games by himself.

Lui and Thompson are the same age. I feel Lui is in position to have a better career, not taking into account his off field dramas. He has had more experience and on occasions has really taken charge of a game for his team.

Cowboys 5th-8th. Good squad but don't have what it takes. Led by a frontrunner in Thurston who is extremely talented but not mentally strong enough to take any salary cap constrained team (therefore Dogs and Queensland dont count) all the way.

My own opinion is that the cowboys will be still an awesome attacking side but the defence will hurt them again which is why I would place them 8th this season

A very good squad, they should make the top 4.

Still a few things that I think hold them back, one being that they have a few very very average first graders in their team that seem to get consistently picked (Ashley Graham & Aaron Payne), the other is that they need to find another prop to partner Scott. Tamou has all the ability but his defence still lacks a lot to be desired.

They have a squad that's almost too good to be true but it's kind of like a three little piggys scenario. They have players who are either too young or too old. The two players they have who are 'just right' aren't exactly walking fit either as they always seem to suffer injuries at inopportune times.

Uhhh........you sure you got your nursery rhymes right? "Goldilocks" matches the "just right" scenario

3 pigs are all huff n puff

Have to agree.......

I thought top 8, but the cows seem to disappoint more often than not. So 9-12.

However if they don't make the 8 it can only be considered a dreadful season. Not sure how long Lui is out for, but they rely too much on JT, without a quality 1/2 they'll rely on him more. I am afraid this will provide more disappointment in 2012.

On the wings I'd pick KFFL & Winterstein personally, I could have looked to purchase some more depth although they've got some good youngsters.

As for dummy half, anyone. Again I think they should have looked to recruit someone.

I'm thinking Segayaro will play alot more time this year, with 'All Star' Payne playing from the bench.

I think we'll finish 2nd or 3rd (Warriors 1st)

We have better depth than any other team in the comp, again with the exception of the Warriors.

I agree with the "too old or too young" comments. Although I think all it will take is for 2 of our youngsters - Tariq, KFFL, Thompson, Lui, Segeyaro, Taumalolo - to have a break out season and we could jag a premiership for the first time. I can't remember ever having a stronger squad.

It ultimately will come down to injuries. We can cover everyone except Thurston and Bowen.

If we don't make the top 4 it'll be pretty disappointing, considering how good we look on paper.
