i know of someone who has connections to the club.. Smith is not the most popular person to put it kindly. Prime example is the game before Melbourne in Melbourne, he told Witt with 10 min to go to take off his boots as he put in Thorman instead. Why put in somebody who wont be there next season as opposed to a player who is young and staying put ?
I dont think Witt wants to be there and i dont blame him !!
The Eels dont play with passion and just dont want to be there, and if anybody says otherwise.. YOUR DREAMING !!!
Smith has to do the bloody right thing by the club and go, JUST GO !!!!

Well said as its the truth- i know a trainer there and he thinks Smithy is a controll freak because he wants every little thing too exact and always his way- and that is the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure that BS wanting to be in total control is the main issue. Most coaches are the same but he is probably a bit more intense in his prep. which seems to be the biggest issue for past players etc. As for him dropping Witt 10mins before kick-off, don't believe all that hype. The players are told on tuesday as to the make-up of the side and if there are any possible changes that may occur later in the week. Both Witt and Thorman would have known that one of them was going to play and one of them wasn't. And it would have had to be an hour before kick-off as they would have risked a fine otherwise.

How can you go out to play an opponent when you have just been treated like children, put down and have bloody stats thrown in your face ?
i watched the Eels play in Townsville, and i spoke to the one the only Denis Fitzgerald at the airport. He even admited the top 8 was a dream.
My wife and i sat next to Nathan Cayless on the plane, he had his head in his hands virtually all the way back.

They can't make changes that close to kick-off because they rick losing the points if they win. You guys need to take your heads out of the clouds for 5 seconds.

He may have advised the match officials earlier but not told witt til 10 mins prior to the game. He loves his mind games.

Which suggests that Thorman would have at least trained with the side that week and that Witt must have had some inkling that he might not play. Witt's maturity is certainly not his strong point so just because a 20 y.o. spits the dummy we should all be taking his word as gospel.

How on earth does advising match officials but not the player suggest Thorman would have trained with the side? Would seem to me it merely suggests his intention was to humiliate the player.

So you think that Thorman would have trained with the PL side all week then BS just decided that he would play FG 10mins before it started. The fact that he WASN'T playing PL would quite clearly indicate that BS had indicated at some stage that he might play FG that week.

Have another mushroom, you idiot!!

If you can't argue your point without resorting to insults then your head must be so far up your own arse that you are incapable of seeing anything other than your own shit.

You didn't make a point dumbarse. The thread is in relation to Smith informing Witt only 10 mins prior to taking the field. I don't know if it is true or not but not informing the player til 10 mins prior to the game even though match officials had to be informed earlier has nothing to do with where anyone trained.

It's about his reasons for not informing Witt about the change. If it was simply a last minute change he would have told Witt when the decision was made which we know had to be at least an hour before the game when the match officials needed to be told. Unless of course for whatever reason he didn't want Witt to know.

Understand now?

2 weeks ago Wity set ou a victory with his hids brillinat kicking game, against hte cpmpetition leaders.

Lat week he was omitted.

This week he was dropped to PL, and played at 5/8.

On top of this, his replacement has already been booted for next year.

I just cannot belive any of this has to do with his form. For me he is clearly our best half back.

HE must have upset Smithy some how, its not logical for him to be playing PL and out of position.

Fair dinkum, Witt's played more games than Thorman.

But if Thorman is so prodigiously talented, how come he hasn't setup any tries?

Just a few from the top of my head that Witt has set up:

* The three tries for Burt against the Chooks

* Last year against Cronulla - he made a break, grubbered it for Vaealiki who regathered and scored.

Witt is much better than Thorman. With game time, he'll be a very handy halfback. And yet he doesn't get a go.

I'm sick of it.

The coach has gone insane.

The players are obviously suffering.

GO HOME SMITH.

Not according to my stats:

Thorman has now started 6 first grade games (all at half) plus 2 from the bench.

Witt has started 6 first grade games (3 at half) this season, with none from the bench.

Dykes has started 12 first grade games (11 at half?!) plus one from the bench.

Wagon has started 19 first grade games (15 at five-eighth). Muspratt has started once at five-eighth, Dykes once, and Witt three times.

No wonder we haven't really got it together this season? This is an extraordinary state of flux for a teams' halves combination!! I can't understad all of the fiddling Smith has done in the halves since seeing Morris/Witt as our best available combination in the second half of last year.

And its not really due to a terrible injury toll. These players have only been unavailable for selection as follows: Wagon (suspended R6), Witt (suspended R14-15), Dykes (injured R16-21), Muspratt (injured R15-20).

*Scratches head repeatedly*

But then the side becomes public.

everyone knows who is running out an hour before the game.
