Our game is highly structured, most of our plays are sorted on the training paddock. We don't need a creative half, we need a half who will stick to a game plan and select the right option. Having French at fullback will give them more options than we had this year with Gordon.

What do you mean by creative anyway?
Well we are the 3rd worst attacking side for a reason. Even with our full assembly of players our attack was still poor. Our defence has won us most of our games this season and defence can help you win a lot of games but to challenge the big boys you need another couple of gears.

Well before the Todd shit hit the fan and Foz's life inploded, we were travelling nicely @ Rnd 9 having won 6/9 and being on +60. Three teams ahead of us were on 14 points in tie 1st. I think you are whinging for the sake of whinging. if our season stayed on track we would not have had a problem scoring points.

Even BA has said our attack all season hasn't been great, in press conference in the Manly win he mentioned it. Or you know you probably might find it in the endless articles you post but whinge about.

I may be a whinger but some of you blokes would find a positive in a ten car pile up.

Agreed our attack was poor. I'm not debating that though, I'm debating the creative half thing. We don't need a creative half, we need a half who will stick to the game plan and kick well.

I think its a halfback who is good at decoupage

I don't care what it isn't, what is a creative halfback?

Do they create plays? Are they off-the-cuff? Do they stick to the game-plan?
Well I would say Johnston is a creative half back, Thurston as well. They can play scructure if they have to but play what is in front of them. Hayne in the halves to me would be a creative half as well. Someone like Reynolds is not.

Do you need a creative half when you have a creative No.6 ?

I would have thought you need a steady 7 to steer pigs around and shift when required. A 5th tackle kick and good defence and we have our man.

I think our problem for most of the year is IDG offering poor service at knee height or above head to the 1st receiver. I'd hate to be the 7 receiving his hand grenades.

Not really but if someone like Guth is at 6 with no kicking and our dummy half can't kick that puts a heap of pressure on Norman. And it showed once Foran pissed off that you cut down Normans time we struggle big time.

Guth can kick... He doesn't have the best kicking game, but it's definitely not accurate to say that he doesn't have a kicking game.

I can kick a ball as well, doesn't mean I should be playing for the Eels at 6 next year.

He'd go ok as a backup kicker out of fullback or centre. Really what we need is someone with a decent passing game and either a trap in-goal grubber or decent bomb. Doesn't need to be a great all round kicker

I'd say about 80% of all NRL halves don't meet the minimum NRL standard
