Huge wrap on Parramatta Eels' 17-year-old Bevan French

Wonder if French is a half option until we find someone ( he may even surprise there). I know he is light and will be targeted in defence but he is willing to put his body on the line which helps. And it's not like he is the smallest half ever. Probably average size for a half.

He has play making skills. Does anyone know if he has a kicking game?

I thinking French is probably a more natural half option then Gutherson.

BA hinted in his interview yesterday that French may get a run there sometime before the year is out.

Wait what BA said that he was going to play French in the halves ?

Pretty sure he was talking Gutherson and how he is playing in the halves then mentioned French may get a run there. If i could re-watch it I would get the exact wording

French could certainly skip across the ruck into holes, but JWH, Ryan James & Co will be lining him up. Could lose his head.

I cant see french defending in the halves ... we'd have to do something out of the ordinary there

I reckon he is up to it. A lot of it is attitude. Yeah he would miss a few tackles but most halves do. He has shown a few times this year he can tackle.

And while he is still a bit light about 80 kg, after a good offseason he could probably get closer to 85kg and maybe push close to 90kg in a year or two. So he is definitely no where need the smallest half.

What he say about Hayne? Can u watch it again please. ;)
He said
- there were many convos about having hayne back in the team
- at end of the day he has commitment to other players he wants to be at parra longer term who have been through alot this year
- that he was in bali when hayne left so wasnt really involved in what happened ... the lifetime contract was nothing
- in end he's very happy how it all worked out for hayne, the nrl ... and is very happy with our position going forward

He can tackle ... but more the fullback/wing covering type defense ... he will get absolutely targetted and monstered closer to the ruck

Maybe I'm reading too much into it but it almost came across as relief that Arthur wasn't bullied into accepting Hayne's asking price.

Probably helps have Mad Max the bean counter at the helm.
