The quicker they end P&R and the new quota rules are in place the better.

I can't see HKR getting a franchise anyway.

The timing of the clubs promotion to Super League means that they have to basically sign whatever crumbs are left by the other clubs. This usually means two or three domestic players who have been released from the relegated side or others in Super League, plus several from Aus/NZ who wouldn't be getting a professional contract in the NRL.

It's a no brainer. Sign these players, struggle to safety and take criticism for having so many non-British players, or be relegated and enjoy the moral high ground?

Perectly summed up, shame some fools can't get this into their small minds.

I really don't believe that anyone doesn't understand that. What I have an issue with is that P & R forces clubs like KR and Salford to sign mediocre Aussies and neglect the young talent that they no doubt have. I definately understand why clubs do it, they must, but that doesn't mean we have to like it.

I disagree, take Jim Gannon as an example.

There is no doubt in my mind that there are at least 10 better props than him the National Leagues, but because he is an Aussie he gets a contract, it's a sick joke.

Andreas Bauer and players like that, theres better players playing Academy League.

If it's P&R forcing Salford and Hull KR to sign mediocre Aussies then what's forcing Wigan and Bradford to do the same? Bradford are the second most successful club since the SL era began but their success has been built on a foundation of a large Antipodean influence. But because HKR dare to sign a few players who Aussies don't rate they are vilified for doing what they think is best for them. Remember another Aussie that played for HKR a while back? A certain Gavin Miller. He was classed as finished in Australia when he came to Britain. He went back to Australia and won a WC winner's medal in 1988. Sometimes the British game is more suited to players that are not rated in Australia. History is littered with Australian names that flourished in Britan but classed as no names back home. As for the numbers, well that's down to either the ESL to put in place more stringent quota rules (unlikely to stand up in court) or for the clubs to have an unwritten rule (again, more chance of me being knighted first). RL is not the only sport suffering in Britain because of imported players . Many famous names in soccer are decrying the number of foreign players in the Premiership. The average in the Premiership is that 60% of each squad is ineligible for England. This rises to 72% at Chelsea and Manchester United. This is down to the pulling power of the pound but is still similar to Wigan signing the likes of Withers and Millard instead of having faith in their own junior talent. The short term fix of bringing in mature players is always seen as the better option than nurturing young talent.

They have agreed on a rule to cut the import numbers to 5 in total per club by 2011. It has been agreed upon and is based on 'home-trained'as criteria, which will stand up in court.

I'll believe it when I see it.
