First of all I would like to give a huge ovation to the 14 men who gave it their all against an improving Parramatta team at their home ground
When I sat down and watched Parramatta race out to a 14-0 lead early on I wasnt concerned as I knew Joey would get them out of it. Then all Knights fans worst nightmares came true as Joey did his knee in and may miss the season which is a huge blow for rugby league. As I saw the agony on his face, I had a little tear in my eye as I felt so sorry for Joey he has had the worst luck with injuries in the past 3 years and he doesnt deserve that, but then again no one does deserve to get injured. Down 14-6 at that stage and I had given up, no way could our boys do this but when they went in at half time trailing 22-16 i was starting to think maybe we can. When Seage crossed over I was gaining more confidence and I could tell the boys were 2 ..... But then Seage injures his knee and another tear came into my eye as a promising debut year 4 Seage has been cut short. Down to 15, then Tahu is limps off, now down 2 14. As I watched Lowrie on the bench all alone and the Knights fighting to the death against this team who is on the improvement, I thought no matter what the result is, I am sooooo proud of the boys tonite and even more I am sooo glad 2 be a Knights fan and I wouldnt change that for nething!!!! Knights hit the lead but unfortunately we couldnt hold on and Parra pipped us at the post but again we didnt quit as Parra had the ball on our line in the last 2 mins but we didnt throw in the towel because as the old saying goes Blue n Red Neva Dead and that will always be the case. At the end of the game I stood up and clapped for my team as I was so proud of them.
On Newcastle's Season I can see this as a positive! We have learnt that we can play some decent footy without Joey and the man who we can thank for that is Kurt Gidley! He has certainly stepped up.
I hope Joey, Seage and Timana all make a speedy recovery and best of luck.
