Not into cricket much these days but even I know that Steve Smith should be reinstated as our captain. Reminds me so much of old school captains that I admired before I lost interest in the game.

he was quoted in the media yesterday as saying his captaincy days are over and he is just looking after the team till Patty is available again

I agree he did a very good job and his experience showed

Give me Steve Smith as captain any day over the millennial Pat.
Cummings is a great bowler, fielder and not a bad batsman.
A captain of our national team he is not.

Khawaja should have been given the captaincy after sandpaper gate instead of Tim Paine.

He was already a state captain.

And from what I have seen on the test doco he is a genuine leader he stood up to JL.

And not afraid to put people in place.

Unfortunately CA and selectors never gave Ussie the respect he has deserved in his career and should have played more for Australia.

Tim Paine didn't even deserve a spot in the team let alone be handed the captaincy.

Looking back at that sandpaper shit I wish we had have just told the rest of the world to get f'd and not suspended our players. I reckon we overreacted because we are hated so much by the other playing nations and tried to appease them.

The reason for the suspension was all of Australia was outraged that the Australian cricket team admitted they cheated in a test match.

And all the media influences who couldn't give a fat rats about cricket wanted blood in those 3-4 days post the incident so CA gave it to them.

Once smudge did his presser in Sydney and broke down everyone realised wtf have we done here by then it was too late.

Aye you're right, it was made out to be the first and only case of ball tampering anywhere, ever in world cricket. The heavy handedness just made it a hell of a lot worse and now we're stuck with a team projecting a fake nice guy image. Bollocks to that, Warney, S Waugh etc etc made life hell for opposition teams before a ball was bowled.
