Look at the tests since drop ins became the in thing at Adelaide, the WACA, and the MCG

And that says it all.
Why do we even need drop in pitches?
This has only come about because of the AFL. The three states you mention are the predominantly 3 AFL states. Sydney and Brisbane have told them to go and get f**ked.
They are ruining the game in this country because they have too much power. Yet they don't care about cricket, or any other sport for that matter. They are determined to destroy every other sport in this country, and they couldn't give a f**k.
Just listen to their commentators. Everything is about Victoria. Not Australia, who are actually the team on the pitch.
That state, and their lackeys (SA and WA) just toe the line.
It's a national disgrace.

Alastair Cook showed plenty of class today. The way he presents himself is a credit to his family. Compare him to Warner who probably would be in prison or a Bra Boy if it wasn't for cricket.

Most Aussies show hardly any class. The constant sledging which came from the Glen McGrath days and has not subsided is one reason why I'm not into cricket as much as I used to be. Cool arrogance from past cricketers like Viv Richards will never be repeated. Now that was a class act.
Couldnt agree more ... alot of aussie cricketers would be considered absolute f**kwits by aussies if they played for some other country

Ignoring this particular strip, why shouldn't we be going for drop ins? It allows the venue to do whatever in the lead up and it also allows the pitch to be prepared in optimal conditions. Or a number of pitches to be prepared. They may be different to what we've become used to (It's not a WACA pitch!!) but so what? Doesn't it allow for more control?

Adelaide was a drop in and it as excellent, if you read the article that Bazal posted they got the MCG curator in their sights.

There has not been a result there yet this season.

Absolutely. I hate the Australian cricket team. They're embarrassing.

I did read it I'm just talking about people saying drop ins are no good in general. Maybe the Melbourne guy isn't (or wasn't) much good at it. Or preparing wickets in general.

Until Adelaide I would have bagged every drop in pitch in the country but the Adelaide curator proved it can be done with balance to assist both bat and ball

the night time cricket helped too, ball swung like my nuts on a Sunday morning

Any pitch that gives us about five days of cricket and is reasonably even for both sides is doing its job I reckon.

Well that's exactly the problem. The only way these pitches are even for both sides is they are even for both batting lineups. The bowlers get f**k all.

Anyway some fans are happy for us to be home town heroes and just play well in Australia, and good for them. Personally I'd rather go back to the days of every pitch having an individual character that actually taught our batsmen something as they developed.

My biggest issue with people bitching about drop ins is they are bitching about different things ... is the pitch lifeless cement or is it a deteriorating poohole?

I get your point Baz about us getting no exposure to different conditions to overseas ... fair point ... but its always been that way to an extent ... for as long as i can remember we have had issues with sub-continent pitches - perhaps it has got worse, or perhaps that shit batting lineup plays a part too
