I agree with Twizz to an extent, although I'm not sure it will be quite as bad as he thinks. Again, deteriorating doesn't mean falling to pieces. I reckon Symonds said pretty much what I feel about the wicket last night, it'll be grubbering to the keeper day four and five. Which isn't actually all that unusual for an MCG pitch, the issue is that it's done absolutely nothing and was pretty much a day four pitch on day two.

Warney also said that chasing 300 would be getable on day 4/5 in the 2nd innings. I'm not sure I agree with him there.

2 LBWs off inside edges, Malan belted the shit out of that and didn't review it

Gawd this pitch is rubbish.

Still, an excellent knock from Alistair Cook. Probably the best opener of most of our lifetimes. Except Twizz, who saw Jesus opening up for Jerusalem.

this pitch is not worthy of a test match, they should move the boxing day test match till they stop these drop in pitches

it will take a week to get a result on this pitch

Last night you were saying how fast the pitch will deteriorate, now your saying we won’t get a result???

it definitely has, the grass is drying out the ball is keeping a bit low, easy to keep out but not coming onto the bat as quick as day one,

its not really deteriorating at the rate I thought it would though and I dont see it as a result pitch as of today where as yesterday I thought it would have been a result pitch

all the shield games this year have been a draw and thats not cricket, these drop in pitches just dont behave like normal pitches

Should we just do away with bowlers and have bowling machine throwing them down?

That's a great idea!

And no matter who scores the most runs, the team who hits the biggest six over the five days automatically wins

There's still two days to go and we're practically done with the first innings. There's still a chance for the bowlers to come into it and a good chance of a result. I'm just suggesting the criticism might be over the top. And why did Smith choose to bat?

It's being criticised because pitches like this are the reason we got belted in England last go....it's a flat, slow, lifeless strip that gives the bowlers very little and barely challenges the batsmen, that we were dismissed for such a relatively low score is an indictment on the quality and the mental application of our batting lineup.
