I Dont' Like Cricket, Oh No, I Love it, Yeah

too expensive and it had to be paid for by Fox/Ch 7 and they agreed not to pay for it

The ICC don't recognise it as being official as its deemed to not be 100% accurate

it cost $10K a day to run it
I don’t consider the ICC to be entirely impartial or accurate.

$50 K per test match is chicken feed! I recall watching a documentary about the Indian cricket team about five or six years ago that said every time they cross the rope the BCCI makes $1 million US

its not all in one link, its old news, there have been a few articles on this, in short

AI Overview

The use of Hotspot technology in cricket has decreased in recent years due to a number of reasons, including:
  • Cost: Hotspot is expensive for broadcasters, costing around $10,000 per day.

  • Inaccuracy: Some have opposed the use of Hotspot due to its inaccuracy.

  • Military technology: Hotspot is a military technology that was originally developed for tracking tanks and jet fighters.

  • International Cricket Council (ICC) policy: The ICC has never included Hotspot as an option for Decision Review System (DRS) calls in their tournaments. Instead, individual boards and broadcasters decide whether to use it in bilateral series.
HotSpot was first used in cricket during the 2006-07 Ashes Test match at the Gabba. The technology was adapted for television by BBG Sports, an Australian company.

Well, I suppose snicko needs to go as well, considering its inacuracy yesterday.

you and everyone else who watches cricket, the BCCI were the first to refuse to use hot spot or sniko, my guess is that technology cant be "influenced"

and we all know how much the BCCI influence the ICC

that summary by AI produced that link I provided, you get exactly the same search results for sniko as you do for hot spot

what AI doesn't tell you is that the BCCI didn't want it, end of

After all the interviews yesterday I thought Darsh was a certainty to be in the side...

Hopefully they stick with Webster now and don't drop him after 1 game ..

They have 2 test Sri Lanka tour in January-February so he will go there for that.

But with those spinning decks the whole lineup may change

Someone like a Glenn Maxwell may be plucked into bat at 6 who has more experience on those wickets.

Not saying it should or will happen but the subcontinent the team mix changes so a Webster may miss out depending on where they want to go.

True I assume we will take Todd Murphy to Sri Lanka as well so we may go with Cummins Bowland Murphy and the Goat. Starc won't go he is injured and will need rest.

So without Green available we will most likely run with Webster as our 3rd place bowler unless we also take a 3rd spin option like we did against India in 2023.

Pat Cummins wont be going to Sri Lanka is my understanding

I believe his wife is due around that 2 week period and he said today he will stay home for that.

Murphy being an offie like Lyon they may want a leg-spinner or a left armer in Kuhnermann.

I reckon Murphy should be ready to replace Lyon in 18 months anyway.

Geee The captain is ditching the team for the birth of his kid! Not a team player at all unlike our Moey legend of a bloke!

If Cummins isn't going I wonder what out attack will be I doubt Starc and Hazelwood will be fit.

May have all 3 spinners over there playing along with Bowland and Richardson.

What did he say?
Can't tell you exactly but he didn't shut up the whole time. He was relentless and repetitive.
I just don't think it was smart because that sort of behavior will quickly come back to bite him at some stage.

tbh I hope he doesn't change a bit. Must have been annoying as hell for the batsmen and looked like it contributed or played a part to some rash shots, which is what its all about. They dish it out just as much. Just that cameras are more focused on Konstas after his 1st dig 60, the Kholi incident, plus the crowd interaction.

Dont care that he is 19yo and on debut. Even more annoying for the opposition. If Sam is comfortable doing it with the blessing of our leadership group, especially when we are hunting for a win, then more of the same please. As long as he doesn't over step any boundaries. His batting will look after itself if he is good enough.

What will happen over time, he may be more selective who he chirps to , and how often. That will come with experience , as well as playing with other players from other nations (IPL). In the meantime let it rip Sammy..

Starc has a great record in SL. Actually bowls best there than anywhere else statistically. Hopefully he will be fit . 3 weeks break after Sydney test, he should be ok. If India self destruct and we bat long, this test might not be as hard for the bowlers

Hazlewood might be a risk, but if it was a minor calf injury last time (not the side injury again) He could be fine to go. He would have had 6 weeks to get it right come the first test over there on 29/1
