I've always been of the opinion that you are only as good as your last game..... and going by that we have the wood on them at the moment. ;-)

how can i or any serious Parra fan ever forget the 2001 GF, particularly when i hosted a big BBQ and watched it with the mate i speak of......well watched the first 20 mins anyway........

it was the first and hopefully last Parra game that i just gave up on....i was gutted by what happened and couldn't comprehend what was unfolding in front of me :(

To this day I have still not watched the second half of that game and refuse to do so. I was utterly devastated. My mates stayed back at the Leagues club and saw the boys come home but I had to go.....

I was at the game, and me and my mates at half-time went down stairs and got drunk, and everytime we heard a cheer we walked back up to our seats briefly.

That day will live long and sad in my life

I was in Sydney playing at the Manly Jazz festival on the Oct long weekend.
We'd finished our gigs so I dragged my ignorant band members to one of the bars on the waterfront prepared to give them an education.

I had my Jersey on, the only eel amidst a sea of knights supporters in the heart of true enemy territory.

As you know the rest is history.

Luckily it was my birthday that day too so I didn't have to buy any drinks so the pain was eased for a while ;-) but to this day I will only remember that night with sadness.

I wasn't 18 at the time so I couldn't even do that :( . Not to mention I was sitting with all the Eels fans, but had a bunch of f@#wit Knights supporters behind us who wouldn't shut up all night. Needless to say I had a big one back at my mates place after the game.

I remember walking down the stairs and a Knights fan came up to me and said Go Knights, I went to shake his hand and congratulate him but as I did he Yelled out “Parra Sucked ha ha ha." I withdrew my hand and said, "That is why no one will ever respect you or your club". He tried to shake my hand after that but I told him that he had the chance and blew it.

I went back to the club, Joined in the Chant for 1 more year from Jason Taylor.

I went back to the Oak and meet up with Suity, but left quickly.

I then went home and slept, drove back for the Thank you Rally the next day and got busted for speeding just before Parramatta Stadium. Then did mad Monday.

we stayed to the bitter end then went back to the club till 4 am, still in shock i was numb went home and woke up with the shits good and proper, that day i really needed counselling i swear i just laid on the lounge :( like a beached whale all day, then my husband tried to bring me around but i just told him to shut up and leave me alone ,as the week passed by and all the smart arses had there say the clouds began to lift and life somehow just went on.

guy's alright, he hates andrew johns so he's not all bad. he just takes great pleasure in reminding me who won the '01 GF......

Who DID win the 2001 GF?

I dozed off when bucket-arse hit the deck in the second half complaining that he got hit high AND got the penalty.

Oh.

Grand Final, 2001, 'after party' stories, huh?

Well, I just sat in silence in the same exact spot for 3 consecutive days. Not eating. Not sleeping. Not doing anything.

Then I got over it and went to Qld.

let's never speak of "that" night again......

too many bad memories, too much pain

the only problem is then there are the games against Canterbury in '98 and Melbourne in '99 and the other games against Newcastle and Norths in '97

let's never speak of them again either.....
