The fact that the MInor Premier hasn't gone on to win the Premiership more frequently since 1998 than prior proves that the comp is more open now.

Winning the Minor Premiership for the first 80 odd seasons was almost a guarantee of reaching the Grand Final and winning it.

That's not the case anymore.

Let's forget Melbourne had a set of dodgy books for a minute, but to say we have an open and fair competition yet 2 teams have finished with the minor premiership 9 times in 17 seasons to me doesn't scream open and fair competition. The fact we have a semi final system with 8 teams (where winning approx 55% of your games gets you in) doesn't mean the salary cap is doing it's job, it means the final 8 system rewards the teams who are just scrapping by.

Sadly 05 i cant see this club or similar clubs like Newcastle ever winning a comp ever again whilst the NRL persist with the current corupt system swayed by Media money and rich club power brokers.
I have many thoughts on this topic but ill save for another time but basically the comp is just the same as it was prior to a salary cap.

Mate, the perennial virgins finally popped their cherry last year - there is hope for us all.
We'll get our chance again, we just have to get the right people in place, which looks like it's finally happening.

What is a rort is that the NRL will not permit Harry T to provide TPA to the WT because Meriton was a former major sponsor, when everyone knows the Broncos are blatantly if not shamelessly out of control with rorting the salary cap.
Can u explain this a bit more ..any media stories etc..

Yeah I would love to hear more on this as well. The whole reason Meriton removed sponsorship was so they could provide TPAs but since the whole Eels debacle NRL has apparently cracked down hard

Outside of splashing his company on the front of a Balmainand Wests Tigers jumper what has Harry ever done to help the clubs? Serious question here

Thanks.
Someone else here mentioned it as well and said how it doesnt appear to apply to Politis and his bussiness connections.
It was a good point and i just wondered where it was originally mentioned by the nrl

Keep hearing the line in the media that (quote) " Politis always gets his man"...
when you really think about the implication of that line that's repeated by in the know sports writers. ..how COULD he always get his man if they even remotely played by the rules.
I wouldnt be surprised if tedesco ends up netting ( combination of cash and assets) twice the figure that has been mentioned ....a guaranteed windfall after retirement can fly fairly efficiently under the radar as well

Millions in sponsorship in return for exposure of his company on TV and in the media. Scott Prince lived at Campbelltown didn't he? Why wasn't he in Harry's best apartment? Meriton wasn't a sponsor in those days.

If the bloke was as big a fan as made out to be, Balmain probably wouldn't be in the position they are today.

Here is the deal with TPAs - every business is only allowed to provide one and you can NOT do it if you are a sponsor of the club.

Its to prevent exactly what everyone here is talking about and having one billionaire buy a team.
