I love the fact that NSW fans pin their hopes on Lockyer's absence.

Photoshopping has always been part of the parcel of the Origin period. Far worse has been published during that time.

Let them. This is interesting to read. Let them go on and have their professional trolling periods. Help keep this off-season interesting.

See you in 2012.

The Qld media crossed the line with the toddler photoshopping

It was weak and petty really

It was just a bit, but I've come to expect nothing less from that lot. And like I have already said, they wound up with egg on their faces when their own coach burst out with his bizarre "Rats and filth" rant...

I'm pinning my hopes on you guys finding a spot for Chris Sandow in the 17

A Cronk/Thurston injury.... oh please.

A Cronk/Thurston injury.... oh please.

Sandow is in the Emerging Maroons Squad.I'll pray that he never gets picked for Origin.

Cherry-Evans' rise has earmarked him as a future origin player.I'm no Sea Eagles fan,but it was delicious watching him play for them this year. That lad has a rare talent. He sees opportunities during a game in a manner that escapes most of all who pull-on the number 7.He has a spontaneity that seems to arise in indigenous players like Bowen,Preston Campbell and Jonathan Thurston, but is not frequently seen in Caucasians.

Whether it is Cronk(who reminds me of Lockyer in the way he is a settling influence on the field) or Cherry-Evans who partners with Thurston, there is no doubt that either combination will be light years ahead of the now predictable pairing of Pearce and Soward(Pearce being the weakest link).

The QLD team next year will be different without Locky. Not necessarily weaker.

One of the greatest assets of the QLD team is how many good kickers we have.Aside from the half/five-eight combination of Lockyer/Thurston we have seen beautiful kicks placed by Smith and Cronk. The QLD team is excellent all over the park.Who would argue successfully that Ennis,Gidley,Pearce were in the same kicking echelon? They all have their moments, but reaching those heights consistently is not something they seem able to attain.Pearce psychs himself out of the game.He can be physically tough, but is mentally brittle and shatters. His game them goes to pieces, following along after his psyche.Gould came out years ago and said that he wasn't ready for Origin. If anything he is in a more precarious state now than he was originally because he has been damaged by his costly errors at Origin level. This year would have devastated the guy, because he knows that he can't pull the Game 2 performances out of the hat whenever he simply wants to.He doesn't know how to play like that on a consistent basis.Game 2 would be like a tease to him.A pleasant memory, but a torment also.To all those who would counter, that he only has to recapture that level of performance,I'd counter that if there was ever a time to do it,it was in the Origin decider Game 3 this year. When the opportunity was there to capitalise on the momentum, take hold of the series and win the trophy,Pearce simply crumbled.

Crumbling,is Mitchell Pearce's natural game.Game 2 was uncharacteristic. If he only plays well 1 game out of 6 at Origin level(his track record as it stands),then as long as he has the number 7 Blues jersey on his back, don't expect to be winning any Origin series whether Lockyer is there or not.

Selection for NSW is key to minimising the impediments that they face.Once they get rid of the excess baggage, then they can begin the hard work that needs to be undertaken to beat the Maroons. At the moment, with the player roster that NSW are fielding(courtesy of the sole selector Ricky Stuart) inconsistent,self-sabotaging exhibitions can be relied upon.

I'll re-emphasise for all those who prattle on about Game 2 and ''catching-up with QLD'';No-one was boasting about Game 2 or ''catching-up with QLD'' in the hours after Game 3(except Gallen).Start afresh.Learn that Game 2 was irrelevant because you couldn't repeat it(or even come anywhere near it),when the chips were down and the Blues had the momentum.

Actually,I love what Gallen said about ''This group of guys learnt what Origin is all about'',after Game 3.He was correct. If you are a member of Stuart's selected team,it is about getting your arse handed to you on a platter.

If QLD lose, I can see the quotes from the players now...

"Not having Lockyer out there this year, our squad is going through a rebuilding phase while the boys get to know each other and develop combinations"...

You might want to pull your head out of the sand and realise that QLD will happily remind us that Lockyer isnt there just as much as NSW will.

All they'll lose from Lockys retirement is a bit of experience (well a lot really) and 1 half of the current established halves combination. Cronk will easily cover the gap in the halves and the senior players like Smith and Thurston will pick up the leadership slack.

Im looking for NSW to improve in order to take out the 2012 series, not for Qld to go backwards

The only "War" between the states is totally in the minds of those north of the border. While we would dearly love to win S of O we have lives down here and just get on with it. For some unknown reason the Cane toads have created this hate thing. I know not a soul down here who feels anything other than we look forward to a good game. Maybe the fact that we in Sydney can choose anyone of 8 or 9 games to go and see each week whereas up there they maybe can choose 1 or 2. Yes NSW is the heart of Australian Rugby League. I will miss seeing Locker but the game goes on......................

Are you kidding? I love the QLD state but when it comes to SOO there is nothing more I hate. I love that in SOO QLD hates NSW and we hate them.
Losing SOO literally kills me lol.
I think especially being a NSW supporter in QLD the hate is fueled by all the shit we cop lol

Whenever I go to Sydney for the Origin games, other than the newspaper headlines etc, there is no indication that anything out of the ordinary is occurring. In Brisbane, there are people everywhere walking around in QLD jerseys, and yes those wearing Blues jerseys get unmercifully bagged. That is why all the commentators call Lang Park the Home of Origin.

When I was watching Game 1 last year in Sydney, with 13 minutes to go the score was QLD 28 -NSW 14.There were Blues fans leaving the stadium(lots of them).I couldn't believe it.They weren't prepared to give their team credit that they might come back.As history showed the Blues rallied and scored two more tries.

QLD definitely doesn't have a monopoly on passion, but I do think that they prize the Origin games more(and not just because we are in a winning streak).Having said that,I definitely think that there will be exceptional exuberance in NSW when they finally do break the QLD streak(and rightly so).

Well having not been in NSW for a while I'm unsure of this but it probably is true. But I was commenting on the fact that he said only QLDers show any type of 'war' passion.

Thanks for drawing that to my attention.I had seen that and meant to fix that before posting but still overlooked it.Your quote will preserve the true FACT that I didn't.

Mea Culpa. (Doh)

I sincerely hope that Sandow never makes the QLD squad.

Sydney seems apathetic to SOO on the surface, that much is true

Play SOO games in Newcastle or Wollongong and you'll see a sea of Sky Blue

I have no doubt there are passionate Blues fans in Sydney but in my experience country NSW is where the majority of the support comes from.

Given that until recently Brisbane really was just a big country town (can be argued it still is), its not surprising that the community mentality is strong there

I haven't been in NSW around Origin time but up here in Queensland it doesn't matter if you're a Maroon or a Blue everyone embraces it.

Well,I stayed at my brother's place at Stockton immediately prior to Origin Game 1 last year.I was wearing my Maroons jersey around(and 'giving it' to the locals :)).I didn't see anyone wearing a Blues jersey........
