On the original point of NSW pinning their hopes on Lockyer leaving, I doubt that's true. In fact if any team worries more about the opposition players taking part than their own, they've already lost.
Queensland has dominated Origin for some time, but in all honesty the dominance is not as great as the record suggests.
For NSW to get those extra points required to win two games out of three they needed to make some basic changes
1. Get a full time coach - Done
2. Get a succession program in place - Done
3. Stop changing the entire team every series - Lets see on that one
4. Get the best players on the park in at least 70% of the positions - Yet to be done
5. Stop Queensland picking players from NSW
(ok taking the piss with that one)
NSW has actually made some changes to stop Queenslands dominance in Origin and now it has to actually try and get their best players on the field. Personally I would have loved for Todd Carney not to be a complete spaswad mentally and I would have loved for Terry Campese's lower body to have been fit in 2012. I think they're NSW's best halves combination by some bloody distance and yet they've never played Origin together.
Our best props and centres and full backs have been injured more often than not over the past 5 years and now we've lost our best winger to a friggin church.
If NSW ever manages to field it's best 17, or 15 of it's best 17 for more than one sodding game, I think QLD will have more to fear than losing Darren Lockyer.
