I love the fact that NSW fans pin their hopes on Lockyer's absence.

Just got back from a couple of weeks in Townsville. Beautiful place, apart from all the Qlders there

Thought I felt something wrong with the equilibrium up here in utopia... Hutty tears were f*cking with the atmosphere

Thanks for f*cking off back to whatever shitsville in NSW you're from and restoring the natural order of things.......

Umm, yeah, like you've finally found a job...or actually got a girl friend...or booked in to a rehab clinic. There are plenty of good reasons to get out of QLD mate.

Champ is it true that the Salvation Army declined your mattress?

Such banter and raging for a forum where you hardly know each other. It's interesting to see this and how it's unfolding. Origin really brings in a competitive and mate against mate and state against state mentality.

Building on this note, I'll admit with Lockyer gone I have a bit more hope for NSW this year along with a few other factors such as new blood, a bit more experience for other players but to claim this most of us have said "QLD will be a different team without Lockyer, They will still be strong but their development, their structure and that pure aura and prescence he brings to the field will be missed". I for one think Cronk will be a brilliant replacement and QLD will do good with or without Lockyer.

After Queensland's loss in Origin II the question is raised: Are the Maroons missing Darren Lockyer?
By Robert Craddock, Todd Balym and Chris Garry

Losing a champion footballer can be like losing a loved one . . . you think you are coping well then suddenly one night it all comes crashing down.
Queensland's State of Origin dynasty did not crumble to ruins in Sydney on Wednesday night but it can be said that since Darren Lockyer retired last season Brisbane Broncos have adjusted better to his absence than Queensland.
In both Origin matches the Maroons have looked slightly out of sync. There is a missing trigger.
Wheels are spinning rapidly but the vehicle is not moving as smoothly it once was.
Queensland made a stunning 12 errors on Wednesday. Some were due to slippery conditions but the fact that NSW made just six reduces the merit of that excuse. Many errors were the product of a side just not running like the well-oiled machine it is renowned for being.
One of the issues seems to be that Queensland, in an inevitable post-Lockyer issue, is not quite sure who is running the show.
Should it be Cooper Cronk with his time-honoured association with dummy-half and skipper Cameron Smith? Or should it be Johnathan Thurston with his extra experience? Should it be a mixture of all three?
But clearly someone has to take firm control of each set of six and their role in it. And particularly the end of it.
One of Lockyer's great strengths was knowing what kick was required for each occasion - the centre field bomb, the corner bomb, the downfield thump or any other exotic entries for special occasions.
Lockyer knew what he was doing and so did everyone around him. And Thurston seemed to kick well when Lockyer was there.
But there was rare confusion in the Maroon camp on Wednesday night where, for one of the isolated occasions in Origin history, the Maroons looked frequently lost on the last tackle, particularly in the first half, making five errors.
Their indecision produced a series of poor kicks, a charge down, a deflection and once in the first half there was no kick at all.

I was in Sydney for the game. I've just gotten back.

It was a good game and NSW was the better team on the night. They deserved their win.

The QLD boys looked somewhat disorganised.

I could have sworn that Inglis backed-off during his chase of Morris, and allowed him to score the try. I might be wrong but that was the impression he gave me.

Anyway. A well deserved win by the Blues. It'll make for a fitting decider at Suncorp, and I'm going to that one also. Can't wait. :)

It'd only natural that a team struggles when one of the greats retires. Qld are by no means out of this yet, and should rightly be favourites heading into game 3.

Morris jinked and GI just misread it.

It's hard for the halves to come up with something when their forwards are getting dominated.

Based on Wednesday nights' game, the Maroons should let Cronk call the shots for them in Game 3. Send off aside, his kicking game was very well-planned out, especially in the last 10 minutes. Pearce and Carney are going to need to rely on more than just bombs if they want NSW to get points on the board. It would be very naive and arrogant to think they can go to Suncorp and beat the Maroons in a tight arm wrestle like that. They need to go for all the points they can when they are close to their own tryline. It'll take more than just grim defense to beat Qld in the decider...

........and they are getting dominated by being guilty of the same offence as the halves.

Not enough depth in attack.

When we did.....the likes of Scott, Shillington and Myles starting to make plenty of metres

Cronk started to come into his own.

JT was just having an off night.
