I love the fact that NSW fans pin their hopes on Lockyer's absence.

DCE is a rookie for gods sake. Fine, he's won a premiership but he could still fizzle out to nothing.

Id be more comfortable having Thurston, Cronk, Prince and maybe Sandow (DCE has big game experience) playing an Origin match then DCE.

One thing really needs to be put to bed, and that's the notion of Sandow making the Queensland side. If that was ever to eventuate it would provide NSW with a massive weakness to target, and no doubt they'd go after it with full fervour.

I'm far more comfortable with a one-season player such as DCE making the side before him. Yes, there's always the chance he may see some down times after such an incredible rookie season. But he's proving to have a very wise head on such young shoulders. He'd approach the pressure of origin with more level-headedness than Sandow, who'd be as giddy as a schoolgirl.

Either way, Cronk and Thurston will have a couple of years in the halves and anyone believing otherwise is misguided.

Yep, NSW would have a field day if Sandow ever pulled on a maroon jersey. Its laughable suggesting he is even in the running

Thank you, thought I was the only one. Bugger me he's got some friends in the media pushing his barrow, and now there's a whole tribe of Parra fans to contend with.

Mal's not that stupid though.

I have no time for Sandow as a Maroon either. At club level he is erratic and a defensive liability.

You're probably right

but

it's not as cut and dried as you're making out.

Cronks role AS the utility shouldn't be underestimated.

Here's a guy who could fill any position in the back line where needed
and
perform admirably.

On top of that he is also a dynamic dummy half........

But like I said....you're probably right

2012 should see Cronk and JT lining up for game 1

If ever a situation arose where Queensland became desperate for halves through injury perhaps, it would much more worthwhile for Cameron Smith to move into the halves and bring in someone like Matt Ballin for cover.

That's how lowly I rate Sandow.

Chris Sandow lacks not only the game for Origin, but more importantly the temperament required. Now DCE may lack a great deal in experience, but what we learned of the young fella is that he is developing the perfect temperament for that environment.

So as for suggestions that Sandow is ahead of him in the pecking order, well I see that as poor judgment personally.

TBH I think its only the media and Parra fans who rate him an Origin chance

The former due to his "Little Alfie" tag and the later out of desperate hope he will be worth the huge money their club has paid for him.

Agreed mate.was just discussing this with a footy mate last week.
If JT,or Cronk were out then Smith is comfortable at 6 ,& Ballin would be great at 9.

Smith is way too good to move to the halves. I don't know how many injuries it would take to justify that...

Let's say Thurston, Cronk and DCE are injured - a scenario not as unlikely as you might think - what do you do?

Safe to say I'd rather Matt Ballin in the side than Sandow.

But I think I've made my point clearly enough, so won't labour it any longer.

Smith should be the one of the last players you consider moving because he is so effective and influential where he is.

Anyway since you asked if you don't want Sandow there I'd be looking at a Harrison/Prince halves combination. Considering the strength of QLD in the outside backs would also consider moving Inglis or Blair to the halves. Make up for the shortfall primarily through Smith/Slater with others supporting.

If you want more genuine halves combinations you would be a fool to monitor progress of the NQLD and Brisbane halves.

Smith has played half for the Storm a couple of times and he was very average there. Prince would be the safe option, he had a poor season but surrounded by the qld players he wouldn't have to be great, just solid.

Please pick Sandow, if for nothing else than the threads that will amuse me.

He wears Parra colours now, he is 10% better. Lockyer ain't no Super Chris.

Just got back from a couple of weeks in Townsville. Beautiful place, apart from all the Qlders there

6. Greg Inglis
7. Scott Prince
9. Cameron Smith
14. Chris Sandow

Unless I'm missing a half.

You must have been walking around with your eyes closed Hutty, Townsville is a shit hole of epic proportions.

Nah it's alright alright around the Strand, etc-great views and chilled out. I think I saw Fourex stumbling round, asking people for spare change
