He's now called it quits.

"After 281 rugby league games and eight tests for Scotland, veteran Ian Henderson has informed the Sydney Roosters that due to a chronic leg injury he has been forced to retire.

The 33-year-old hooker had rejuvenated his career in the English Super League before returning to the Roosters for another NRL season.

“The average NRL career is under two seasons. I was happy to have this opportunity and feeling good,” said Henderson on www.foxsports.com.au.

Henderson still remembers making his NRL debut for the Roosters in 2003 under coach Ricky Stuart.

"I was 19. I started and played well. One of the people in the sheds came up to me and said ‘mate you’ve made it’ and I believed it," he said.

"I got brought back to earth pretty quickly. I got dropped round four and didn’t play for god knows how long after that."

While Parra fans will remember his ill-fated stint in the Blue & Gold, which lasted one minute against the Sharks in 2005.

"I played one game there and got knocked out. A lot of the boys are quick to remind me that I got knocked out off the kick-off," he said.

“David Simmons leapt over me to catch a ball and kneed me in the jaw. There’s a photo online right of the point of impact. I was out for a couple of minutes. That was my Parra days gone."

Still contributed more than Foran did in his stint in blue and gold....

I reckon it was round 3...that kind of started Penrith's run that year and that match turned on an absolutely ridiculous penalty he gave away. My warped mind kind of always partly blamed him for costing us that premiership because of his idiocy in round 3.

Maybe I should let it go...

As a Panthers tragic, I remember that play quite well. Hendo was obviously excited at playing his first NRL game and was quite over zealous in making a couple of tackles and got penalized for roughing up Geoff Bell. From
the ensuing penalty, Rhys Wesser scores under the posts to level the game

281 games and i have never even heard of this bloke, has he been playing in Gympie or something

He played the bulk of those games in the Super League (205)

He played 10 games for the Roosters
1 minute for Parra and 65 games for the Warriors

Having been born in Torquay, I would imagine he's the only Scotsman from Devon to play in the NRL

Yeah in truth Wesser was the difference that game. Made a series of long range try savers, mostly on Ryan Cross from memory who was working his way back after consecutive year ending leg injuries in 2001 and 2002.

Jeez I had the sh its with Henderson for a long time though.
