absolutely pathetic batting from Head there.

Why expose a #11 batsmen with 3 overs to go? When you've only got 1 wicket in hand, the dominant batsman has to take most of the strike and shield the tail-ender.

You need every run you can get at this stage. Haze is no bunny. Good batting Head.

Welp, a top little knock from Head gets us something mildly competitive. Shame he couldn't beat long off there once or twice in that last over and just tick us to 285.

5/15 I think they just said we lost, Maxwell and Wade the main offenders.

Total looks a bit light. Good on Head though for giving us half a chance. Hats off to Finch as well for his innings.

9/277 off 50 overs.

Australia have fallen at least 40 runs short of what they should've got.

Pitch looks a little tacky at times, 300 is probably par IMO. So 277 is defendable if we bowl really well.

We are bloody good for a collapse though, aren't we?

It is still too high of a risk exposing a #11 batsman with 3 overs to go, especially after the batting collapse from the 5th wicket onwards.

Luckily Head made up for it with a couple of sixes and a four

Not necessarily relevant to the collapse but I much prefer Head at the top, no Finch, Lynn or a batsman at four and Maxwell 5 with the all rounder at 6. Henriques is too high at four.

Honestly if I was picking the side Maxwell would bat lower even. He's too irresponsible for the middle order. But with the squad we have it's not really possible.

Well, the selectors should pick a better squad. If this is THE best squad we have, things are not looking good for the 2019 World Cup. Dropping Wade would be a good start, as I don't see us winning a World Cup with an inept wicketkeeper/batsman like him.

Henriques, you are correct, is not a #4, especially with an average of 8 and HS of 18.

His ODI career stats haven't been that impressive.

In the 10 ODIs he's played before this match, only a highest score of 18 (average of 8) and bowling average of 42.85

Thats shocking, what right does he have to bat at no4, let alone be in the side???

We are probably better served playing Lynn, and sharing 20 overs between Zampa/Maxwell/Head of spin.

Australia are very lucky the white Dukes ball for ODIs is no longer used in England, and that the Kookaburra is used instead. It would've made this tournament a bit more interesting a brought a decrease to the 300+ scores teams have been piling on

I remember the 1999 World Cup, the ball swung and moved around a lot (swung much more than the red Dukes ball), a lot of wides were bowled in the opening matches:

With the numerous batting collapses in recent times, Australia's batting line-up at those venues in the north of England with a swinging ball on pitches that also offer a lot of seam movement would be a prime candidate for a sub-100 innings totals.

We have a 30 year old batting at #4 averaging EIGHT with the bat and FORTY with the ball. It's Zimbabwe-tier. He's got one of the worst ODI records of all time ffs. Put this plodder in the trash can.

How good's this? Mark Waugh, a national selector, in the space of three minutes;

Has been surprised that Kusal Mendis is a right handed batsman
Has been unable to name the Bangladesh test captain and wicketkeeper.

No wonder we're doing so f**king well!
