From 2005 thru 2008 I'd rather be a Tiger supporter than a Melbourne supporter.

We did it perfectly, won every Semi and, sure we had the disappointment of not making the semis since but in 10 years I'm not going to remember 06,07 or 08...... But I still remember 88 & 89.... 20 years on- it still hurts....

Melbourne have the bitter defeat of 06 and 08 to remember along with the 07 victory-......

That is the only problem with the joy of making the GF.... the possible heartache that comes with loosing

Big deal if we had of scraped into the semis in 06,07,08 can you remember who finished 7 or 8th in 2006? Who cares that's hardly a success...

Melbourne are finished they are on the downward spiral and will start to fall away from the top of the table and need to rebuild...there era is gone- Saints and Doggys are the new leaders of the pack..

What do Melb have-a gf victory and 2 gf defeats..... a coupe of Minor prems ( wow) like the Eels in 05... I bet the Eels are still celebrating....

I'm pretty sure most footy fans would prefer their team to be consistently good rather than consistently under-achieving just to avoid the disappointment of the 'near miss'.

It's not always about premierships. It's about supporting a winning team. It's about turning up to home games for an almost guaranteed victory and enjoyable night out. It's about players improving and reaching higher honours. And, yes, it's about premierships too... which the Storm have two of. I reckon being a Storm supporter wouldn't be too bad. (I'm not one.)

At the end of the day, the further your team gets, the more footy you get to watch them play, and success means you get to see them win more than lose. I cant agree with losing logic.

f**k, i'd rather lose a few GF's than finish 10th every f**king year.

Second may suck, but its 8 places better than where we usually finish.

2005 is becoming more and more a fluke as each season passes.

Id rather we were a team that was always in the mix -

Rather than starting well - having crap mid year, then missing out on the finals every year.

We have the bare bones to build a powerhouse "dynasty" with several amazing marquee players and poor coaching and poor recruitment have held us back.

Id rather be a team that other players WANTED to play for - rather than buying crazy clint type of players every year.

Look at the success of the Dragons and the Dogs this year after some savy recruitment and with some decent coaching......

The Panthers are similar to the Tigers. We did it perfectly in 03 but have done very little since. Actually came 3rd in 04 but since then we've done worse than you guys have. That's why I'd be happy to come 7th or 8th this year so I could atleast say we made the finals, even if the Dragons or Dogs give us a good hiding in the 1st week. Beats coming 12th or last again.
