Best centre in the comp before he got injured IMO

He was in some really good form but this is still a pretty ludicrous statement.

Panthers are doing really well and if they can get any sort of form from their dud halves, they'll be near the top end of the table next year.

Jeez the Titans got dudded in that deal. What centres are they gonna have for 2014? Not much in the way of quality

Surely Gold Coast has only agreed to this deal to free up cap space for a imminent signing. Karmichael perhaps?

Salary Cap:?: Gussy must know Uncle Nick's secret.

Idiot, cap is $6.3M this year not to mention front-loading/back-ending, 3rd party deals and marquee player allowance.

This is a great signing, in-form centre of the comp before his injury.

They're not but doesn't matter when you're paying Jamie Soward international money
Why do people assume he is getting big money? We've done pretty well recruiting after signing him, and there wasn't exactly a big line to sign him in the first place. I'm sure that he's getting decent money from us, but Gus isn't going to throw overs at a player when there's no competition to sign him.

Look at the signings the Panthers have manged to make:

Peter Wallace (Broncos)
Jamie Soward (London Broncos)
Elijah Taylor (Warriors)
Brent Kite (Sea Eagles)
Kevin Naiqama (Knights)
Tyrone Peachey (Sharks)
Shaun Spence (Wests Tigers)
Will Smith (Knights)
Leilani Latu (Bulldogs)
Wellington Albert (Lae Tigers, PNG)
Jamal Idris (Titans)
That's ontop of recruiting the likes of James Segeyaro, Sika Manu, Dean Whare, James Roberts, Isaac John, Eto Nabouli, Wes Naiqama and Anthony Cherrington the year before.

These signings are all smart signings (except Wes Naiqama). The only players we were throwing ridiculous money at were Carney and Thurston. THe players who were in huge demand and able to get clubs throwing that sort of money at them, and we were still throwing that sort of money at them after we signed Soward. So clearly he isn't getting ridiculous money.

Seriously. This would have to be the first time the Panthers have come out on top with such a deal. Next closest would be losing Joel Clinton and signing Petero Civoniceva. But we didn't actually trade Clinton... he was off contract. Petero was signed with the huge chunk of cash left over from Gower leaving.

Brad Tighe was a solid winger at times, has blistering pace and doesn't ever really get that lazy. But he is a deadset awful centre. Too small to defend well IMO.

I just jizzed in my pants. If he gets somewhere near last years pre injury form & Whare picks up where he left off we have a bloody handy pair of centers.

Tend to think that might be correct, due to the speed of the release and the "amicable" nature of it.

Nobody in the media got a whiff of this either, which shows that it was done in super quick time.

I mean Brad Tighe is a "throw-in" if there ever was one.

It was a bit irony; you goose.:p

But being serious, wouldn't most clubs have had their salary cap already up to near 100% by now and the Pennies have been fairly active in the marketplace.

Are they still paying part of Jennings' salary for the chooks?

Pretty huge signing for the Panthers. Came from nowhere and really boosts the backline if that's where he plays. This is a pretty strong backline IMO:

1. Kevin Naiqama / Matt Moylan
2. James ROberts / David Simmons
3. Jamal Idris
4. Dean Whare
5. Josh Mansour
6. Jamie Soward
7. Peter Wallace / Isaac John (definitely the weakness of the side)

Throw int he likes of Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, Eto Nabouli, George Jennings etc. fighting for spots and we could seriously lose whoever our first 5 picked are and not be much worse off.

I would say that you will lose a few outside backs in the next couple of years they search for better opportunities elsewhere

Idris is like red jelly, a favourite when solid . . . the humidity at the base of the Blueys may see him come unstuck. Great signing if he can put enough games together
