Wow. Really happy with this!

EDIT: Yep, agree with those saying this is classy from the Tits. Well done.

Wow, Gus really isn't f**king around out Penrith way is he. He copped a shitload of flack all over this forum last year. But by Duges he made a lot of people eat humble pie by the end of the year. Another great coup for himself and Penrith. Now hopefully he can get the supporters out that way churning through the gates again... Very excited for the Panthers aspirations over the next few years :)

I have to agree - I hope the sold out sign goes up at Panther Stadium on a number of occasions this season. It's a great looking stadium when it's full.

Could never understand why he copped so much over he decisions to move on the players who were on ridiculous amounts of money. The Panthers were losing and a few blokes were taking up most of the cap and playing like shit. No brainer. Hats off to him for having the balls to do it.

Penrith now have the worlds biggest human on their team. They will need a bigger dressing room to fit his big fat ass.

Idris is like red jelly, a favourite when solid . . . the humidity at the base of the Blueys may see him come unstuck. Great signing if he can put enough games together

Because it's not like the Gold Coast is humid at all...

Good signing for Penrith.

Gus is genius, this is the one piece the panthers were missing IMO, a big damaging runner/offloader out wide, I see huge things for them this year.

Sucks for the titans though. Eels, Titans and panthers were the teams I was excited for in 2014, now it's just eels and panthers, but panthers have just got way more exciting. If only they could have swapped wallace for albert kelly as well.

If Wallace plays like crap they have Isaac John who would probably compliment Jamie Soward really well. He was a pretty good second fiddle to Luke Walsh, and that was with Luke Walsh not really giving him decent service. Having him in the #7 jersey doing the distribution might see him being even more effective. Especially in a team with such a strong forward pack, and a good centre pairing.

The only weakness in the side is the halves, and there's still plenty of experience and potential in them that they could very well be like Maloney and Pearce and look like representative players at club level due to the team around them.

Big loss for the Titans, but I think eventually it will prove to be a good move.
Sounds like he has a few off field things that he needs to work on.
Good luck to him anyway, hopefully he can fulfill his enormous potential.

Since Gus got out there AND with all his rallying for Western Sydney RL, I always head out there for the Souths vs Panthers games.

Gus cops plenty from a number of quarters, and maybe deservedly so, but cripes he's trying to get the Panthers up & going.

Kudos to him. If you're a Panthers supporter, get behind him. If your team plays out there in 2014, go out and watch. Lovely ground, great atmosphere and afterwards, the club is just across the road.

Tipping this deal was discussed at the Cartwright family Christmas lunch.

It must have been. How could a player possibly inform their club on Monday that they wish to leave on compassionate grounds, and then sign with a new club by lunch the following day? And that's not even factoring in Tighe's important role in the whole thing.

It is just not possible that this news was only suddenly sprung on the Titans by Idris yesterday.

I have no doubt it was discussed at Christmas between John Cartwright and Jim Jones. For those who aren't aware, Jones is the Panthers Recruitment Manager. He is also married to John's sister Mary.

Benji has f**ked off. Gus knows the footy show chaps. Idris actually signing to the footy show? He'd go for way less than he is worth if Gus hooked him up with that gig.

This.

There is no surer thing than channel 9 being involved in some way in his contract.

Titans had about $700k left in their salary cap. With Idris gone they have freed up another $500k. Now they can certainly throw some big bucks at a superstar player. They could look into the fullback spot to strengthen the spine significantly. If Karmichael Hunt doesn't come then the Titans could possibly look into Kevin Locke.

I would happily trade Idris for Locke and Ferguson (throw in Tighe as well) but with our history that would be a pipe dream ... we are more likely to get Freddy coming back out of retirement.

Surely Gold Coast has only agreed to this deal to free up cap space for a imminent signing. Karmichael perhaps?

It seems that way. Zillman would have to move to the centres to accommodate him. But the lack of fight seems to me that they are looking at freeing up cap space.
