If I was the Warriors boss . . .

. . . I'd be on the phone first thing in the morning to Geoff Toovey. Mate, I've seen nothing from Andrew McFadden to say he's going to be a great coach - probably the opposite, All year the Warriors have looked very poorly coached and have basically relied too heavily on Johnson magic to win games. There could be a premiershio in this side in the next couple of years (with the right coach) so I wouldn't be wasting my time with McFadden. Toovey is a proven coach with a point to prove

Okay, sack the coach

Then what?

They gone through plenty of coaches

Shit culture

Correct this team will never find real solid success unless the culture is changed. They are highly unprofessional, have been since the beginning, the only golden period was under Daniel Anderson. Ivan Cleary brought a basic understated element to the club but didn't have enough of a game plan to deliver a winning team.

Very disappointing to be a Warriors fan for 20 years of averageness.

Mate, being a Dragons supporter I know from experience what happens if you don't have the right man in charge. In the mid 2000's the Dragons had a side that probably should have won a couple of premierships. We put a rookie coach in charge who wasn't up to it at the time and we didn't even make one grandfinal.
I'd hate to see the Warriors hold onto McFadden because of the wrong reasons - in other words to not sack him because they've sacked too many coaches before.

Well, put it this way - would anyone take McFadden over Toovey as a coach? I'd just hate to see the Warriors blow their premiership chances.

Toovey, or whoever the next coach is, has to be backed to change the culture - under Cleary is wasn't bad, but was undone quickly

McFadden is crap, no question - but the bigger problem is the majority of the playing group who need to wake up to the fact that this is a relatively short career, and their window to achieve something as a unit in the NRL will close pretty quickly

Good call. I think Toovey would be a great fit and bring them instant success.

If I was the warriors boss I would probably get my affairs in order and hang myself, such would be my outlook on life.

The Warriors need to splurge the cash on a couple of ultra professional players, they've got one in Hoffman but they need a few others. Remember when they had Kevin Campion?

Can't sack the coach. We terminated Bluey early. We terminated Elliott early. We went ahead and resigned McFadden inexplicably. We MUST honour the contract if we are ever to sign a great coach.

Didn't the players want McFadden? Probably because he goes easy on them. Half the Warriors team would rather lose 28-14 but score and get to point at the camera then tough out a 12-10 win. Toovey coming in and shaking things up would result in a tremendous amount of spiking and tantrums.

That's pretty much it...

I love Tooves... I think he's a good bloke.

But he's not proven as a coach himself.

Sacking another coach is not the answer... It actually makes the culture even worse.

The message Eric Watson and Jim Doyle need to send is that McFadden is it. They will be heading out the door before he is.

They should only be sacking a coach if they are replacing him with either Wayne Bennett, Des Hasler or Craig Bellamy.

Otherwise whoever they bring in will be cut off at the knees before they even start.

I don't buy in to the rubbish that McFadden isn't up to it... He's no worse than anyone else out there. In fact I think he's making cultural changes to the squad already.

I'd say let Jim Doyle do his job... He's a smart operator... If he feels McFadden isn't up to it he will get rid of him.

Yes, generally agree - but it is pretty hard to understand what McFadden is trying to do

When he trots out the same team next week with Hurrell in for Wright (injuries/suspensions aside) what do you say?

Had 9 players out there today (6 of them rookies) with 25 games or less of first grade experience. Throw in an injury list that includes Johnson, Hoffman, Thompson, Leuluai, Henry, Laumape, Fusitua. There's no a coach on this planet who would get consistent winning results out of that.

Not excusing the rubbish that went on tonight or in the last month, and I have no idea what sort of coach McFadden will end up being. He certainly isn't and hasn't been perfect, but to throw everything that's happened this year onto him would be pretty short sighted.

Provide a better alternative? What can he do, who can he bring in? There's nobody left outside of more rookies or players who are leaving because (mostly because they're not up to it)

I remember people telling me Andrew McFadden was a gun coach because the Warriors won a few on the trott, and saying to me "how could canberra let him go" and all i said was "just give it a year, if the Warriors inconsistancy hasnt returned at that point, then we'll talk"

streakiest team in the NRL. Will rip a run of incredible form, and then for absolutely no reason, suddenly shit the bed.

That being said, i dont think this is on McFadden, they have lost one of the best players in the game and their halfback. That's bound to negatively impact any side, let alone one who runs everything through their #1 half the way the warriors do
