I do. Not all of them, of course, but enough.
Which coach gets us a win with Matt Moylan, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, Dean Whare, Jamal Idris, George Jennings, David Simmons, Robert Jennings, Peter Wallace, Brent Kite and Nigel Plum unavailable?

Craig Bellamy has an average record without his big 3.
Wayne Bennett couldn't do any better at Knights than Cleary has with us.
Des Hasler is only taking Bulldogs to the fringe of the top 8 with a much stronger roster than Panthers.

Seriously most coaches do poorly with injuries. They just dont have such lengthy periods of their seasons with so many players unavailable. No coach will be winning games regularly with a huge reserve grade showing. Especially if its primarily to a specific position. The salary cap is supposed to keep teams similarly levelled at full strength (it doesn't though). Take half a dozen or more players out of a top 17... exactly how can those teams be realistically expected to win unless they are against teams similarly depleted?

Im not saying Cleary is in the Bennett or Bellamy league. But I don't think either of them does better with a depleted roster.

Sharks had a horror run with injuries last year, now Panthers have one this year. There is a common element....

Daniel Anderson.

Got both Warriors and Parra to grand finals.

Yeah I forgot Ando for some reason. Had exactly the same issues at both clubs though. My point was the Warriors aren't exactly a coach killer in the sense that coaches who succeed elsewhere can't replicate the success there. Only really John Monie came with a real pedigree (McLennan had ESL success but had basically been handed a champion team that coached itself). The reality is we've never had a top clas NRL coach since Monie. They've mostly been promoted assistants or lower grade coaches, and one journeyman coach with a mediocre record (Elliott). Would be nice to get a Hasler, Gould, Bennett or Bellamy some day and see what they can do.

Anderson was my favorite coach of them all. I hated the player power that got him ousted out of the Club. One of them with that genius Ali Lauititi whom ended up leaving us anyway. Wouldn't mind giving him another shot if there is nobody else to choose from

Except when it comes to half-time GF speeches.

Hey can't fault him for trying to inspire the boys. It was his first time to get to a GF. Yes it did backfire but mate what he did in NZ and the dreams for all their fans was amazing. What a 3 year window of joy 2001-2003 was

Monie had NRL success - but also with a top class team that probably coached itself

So, I'd argue we've never had a top coach - and agree 100% it would be interesting to see what an elite proven coach could do - talent wise there's no question we've usually got the goods...

Lautiiti left before Anderson. Considering how things went for him at Parra too I think Andersons man management failings were real.

Don't include Monie in the list of top coaches, Gibson would have won 6 straight with that Eels squad . . . Monie>Sticky

They could have got Bennett after his Knights reign but that was when the Warriors were on a hot streak and that secured McFadden his job...

Broncos #1
Warriors #10

I feel like every time I read a post from you, I lose 10 IQ points. Bennett was never coming. You think we said 'thanks Wayne but Cappy has won two in a row, I think we'll stick with him' Granted we won a couple of games but that's stupid. He was always going to Brisbane.

And I don't agree Anderson was the best coach we had. Good, no doubt, but he had a better side than Cleary and we all know he completely f**ked up the 2002 GF. Cleary had us competing every year, 2009 apart after Sonny Fai's death. Anderson absolutely stunk it up in 2004 trying to make us rugby league hulks. So both were good but I'd rather have Cleary.

Mate, being a Dragons supporter I know from experience what happens if you don't have the right man in charge. In the mid 2000's the Dragons had a side that probably should have won a couple of premierships. We put a rookie coach in charge who wasn't up to it at the time and we didn't even make one grandfinal.

You need to be fair StMick.
If a cap cheating storm had not have blocked the passage in 2006 they would have beaten Brisbane in the grand final.
They honestly had no show against Saints that year.
I am not that hard on NB in that respect - if he had of captured that title then he would be talked about differently.
Alas a dual set of books stopped that.

So what's your answer JJ??

I mean you always seem to think McFadden isn't up to it... Or that Shaun Johnson isn't good enough...

What do you think the Warriors should do??

Well personally I think they should employ that chick at Souths that was the social media liaison.
That would be a great thing to do.

If you don't mind a tantrum and your team forum getting shut down

Umina_Panther feel into a deep depression over that

The Roosters don't have any of those players and we're doing well.

What we play now is what could be known as 'white collar ball' or 'suburban ball. Ie most of our side could play in a dinner suit and not have to change before hitting the town.

Or basketball, which is what Chad Townsend was playing - no tackling and bounce passes.

Before you sack McFadden, have a look at the tigers. New coach, but players still haven't found the winning formula.
