i dont believe he is the answer to what we need at this club, we do not need another CEO in the spotlight every other week like DF. I believe we should hire a female CEO, need to get rid of this male egotistical crap we deal with day in day out...

I will never have 1 person stop me from supporting the club I have loved since the day I was born.
Seriously, if he gets in it will not affect the football on the park and that is what you need to concentrate on. Sure we might hear him in the media and see him at games etc but the football is why all of us luv Parra, not the administrators.

Good point.

I wouldn't try to guess what the current board will do. They were voted in to do a job and if they do it well they will probbly be voted in again next time. If they were to appoint Zappia I would expect a backlash at the next elections.

I would expect an even bigger backlash from the current sponsors

They are heavily influenced by peer pressure from the public who are very easily influenced by the media.

The links to Parra with this silly Sharks charity situation is worrying, also worrying is the PR nightmare that would follow if we hired Zapia in the face of all of this mess. Unless his reputation is fixed up 300% I would be very worried to have him associated with the club. Such is life. This face punching, donation money, taking money from a guy defraudung the sharks and not telling the board saga is something I want Parra distanced from.

We have enough things to worry and be frustrated about, the last thing we want is Jaqueline Magnay on our backs in stinging editorials about our new CEO, Tony Zapia.

In saying that, his appointment would not see me stop supporting the Eels - However, a merger (like those touted by Fitzgerald) would.

Zappia is damaged goods. He has gone from the darling of the press to being hunted on every possible angle. There is no way you want a bloke with that baggage coming into your club, espcially when you just got rid of an ass clown CEO.

ffs, grow a sense of humour

Just seemed like you were belittling Western Eel's opinion by insinuating that the board wouldnt care that they lost a fan.

(sorry if your comment wasnt directed at me)

I never said that I would stop supporting the team, I love the Eels, nothing will ever change that (unless we merged with Manly, then it would be a love/hate thing.)

But I refuse to pay money towards the club when they make a decision that I believe will only cause harm towards it.

for years, we've had a board that has come under fire for their lack of balls and for being a puppet to the CEO and now we finally have a board that can make the tough calls and live and die by their sword.

I voted them in because they're the experts at making these decisions I'm willing to back them until the next ellection.

Still not sure whether you think they should or shouldnt hire Zappia. What do you think?

If she is the best qualified to do the job, then she should get the job. But if we are going to hire someone to run the club based on image, then its a stupid decision. (ironically, I think we shouldn't hire Zappia based on image he brings, but I think most intelligent people will see the difference)

Grant Mayer has to be a shoe in. The new board would be mad not to get this guy. Look what his done at Manly! And he lives out this way. I would suggest this would be our best buy in a long time!

Im Sorry But Mayer isn't the answer. Well He loves Manly. How can you Hire someone that hates this club and approached all the players the Eels chasing or had. Anybody that signed Lyon for $750,000.00 a season isn't welcomed at this Club.

As for Zappia yeah his had little Rough Ride. But Dennis was here For 30 years and How much S#it did he bring to this club.

That's just a moronic attitude. He was doing a job, and at the time was working for Manly. You don't even know how involved he would have been in that signing! How many has Fitzy ever been directly involved in? He may have just written out the cheque for all we know.

I was talking to one of my Manly fan mates about Mayer and he basically said 'keep your hands off him'. Not often that gets said about CEOs. It's good enough for me to want him if he's available.

Wow, Grant Meyer has Mickdo's mate as a referee. He won't look back now.

With all this talk of a Female CEO, I have always like the idea of Liz Ellis as a Football CEO. She is a Solicitor, speaks very well on the Box and is in general a very positive role model for young sports people, male or female, considering she finished her education while playing elite sport for her country.

I'd second that. What's she up to these days? Just media work?

And then we could buy a netball franchise instead of a soccer team. ;-)
