Honestly if you cant stand the thought of hearing the score that much grab your mates get a carton and watch it at home. Why go to a place where there could be plenty of people who know the score ?

hey Johnsy ...we agree on on something.

If I am watching a game at home that is delayed I take the phone off the hook as well.
If I am dumb enough to sit in the pub down the street from the game and not think people leaving the game are gonna tell me the score..well?

There is a massive difference between watching a game at a pub that is down the road from the actual game and watching a game on delay when you are nowhere near the game (which is what I was referring to).

People that give away those scores are just low-life attention seeking pricks that have no other social communication skills other than to jump on the one thing they see you enjoying and figure it's a way for them to bond with you or something - to be honest I have no idea what goes through someones head when they decide to give away the score - or the one that is even worse is when you even tell them to shut up and they drop the least subtle hint of all time thinking they've done nothing wrong.

I like to ( while wearing my teams jumper ) ask them if they know the score yet.
...and then when they say no, I say something like, OK I won't tell you the score...but put it this way...I'm spewin.
...and I like to say it with a big smile on my face.

man do they get angry.

...what can they do about it though?:D

Tim, I think you'll have to factor in the pub staff's attitude. Sometimes they won't change the channel or turn up the volume. So what ever you come up with, it will have to be low maintenance. No hard work like picking up a remote or something.

Well one option is to throw a right hook into your face.

Im guessing you dont do this to the local hardheads, if at all.

The local hard heads are at the footy...not sitting in the pub out of the rain keeping their vaginas dry .

Yeah I just had a chat to a manager at a local pub and he was really supportive of anything that helps patrons enjoy the game, but had a lot of concerns about fights errupting over the noise caused by conflicting games and things like that.

He didn't really mention the attitude of staff though, so i'll have to add that to my list of questions when I ask a few more managers in the next week. Thanks for that.

You should ask him about the staff's attitude to serving punters. I have seen people wait 5 minutes to pay for a bet, because the bar staff just dont think serving the punters is important enough.
Even if you walk away and dont pay, it doesnt hurt them, as the TAB will let pubtab's cancel the bets after the race, for exactly that reason. (And when they tell you that they cant cancel the bet, dont believe them, because they can!)

Club I watch footy at sometimes has these portable speakers they hand out on request. Has about 8 buttons for channels and a volume switch. About the size of a tissue box and it's great.

As for the scores argument... I only ever go to the pub/club to watch live games.

lol

carch owned this thread.

carch is obviously talking about all the lazy bastaards that would rather go to the pub and watch the footy than go to the game.

if thats the case, then you deserve to have the game ruined for you.

if you live in brisbane and follow canberra, i wouldn't be expecting too many raiders fans coming from canberra to brisbane to do this lol

shiit, i wouldn't expect there to be too many raiders fans outside of ACT at all.

Probably because you are an idiot.

The raiders have a good fanbase in QLD as their teams of the late 80s and early 90s were littered with star Maroon players.
