I'll drop myself if I have another shocker: Grothe

That's a fair point, and I agree. He looks like he is not interested on the field.

But there seems to be a deeper issue there - I mean, he does go out there every week and make 100+ metres and take some of his forwards' hit-ups. He just c**ks up in defence. But yeah...

Kudos to Eric for coming public with his own thoughts on his performance, now to see if he can do something about it.

Eric Grothe Snr is considered one of Parra's all time legends .... but there are so many stories around about his training and game behaviour which suggest he was often not that into playing just like his son ...... I wonder whether Snr would have copped a similar bashing if he was around in this current era of public bashings (oops, I mean excessive "opinions")?

I'll say it again, if you want to drop Grothe you should drop the following as well, because they're all playing worse than he is:

Luke Burt
Joel Reddy
Nathan Cayless
Josh Cordoba
Fuifui Moimoi
Daniel Wagon
Chad Robinson
Weller Hauraki
Junior Paulo

Only if he kept missing tackles and throwing stupid passes. ;-)

Btw I don't want to drop Grothe or any other back, with maybe the exception of TT. It's the forwards, the forwards, I tell ya.

well Neville Glover is an ex international and a great clubman and the poor bloke will always be remembered for 1 ball he dropped despite the fact the pass was thrown in front of him and the bloke who passed should of went himself.

if eric didnt have consistent brain snaps, i'd suggest people wouldnt really care how 'committed' he was.

Is Wenty playing next weekend or do they also have a bye? If they´re playing I´d say give him (and a few of the others) a week in PL... either they´ll get their confidence back or prove their sh!teness once and for all)

IMO he has been one of our most consistent and committed players - despite the horrendous brain snaps.

Fair dinkum, if we get rid of him we would then literally have one player who the opposition have trouble tackling - and he plays about forty minutes a week.

If our forwards ran with his gusto and commitment we would have won every game this season.

He must have come close to topping the forum poll alst 2 weeks I would have thought.

He may have cost us points in that game - but he didn't cost us the match. What is costing us games is our absolute lack of penetration in attack and our woeful defence, including line speed on goal.

Put simply, Manly marched downfield at will, whereas we struggled for field position other than from penalties. We put up bombs and hoped for the best, and ran one out for 5 tackles. Any time Manly needed poiints they put on a second man play and copped a cheap try.

Exactly. I would love for our forwards to pull their fingers out of their arses and go f**king forward

you know whats really weird. Had Grothe not had that brain snap, BUT all other facets of the game are the same and we end up winning the game, then Matt Orford gets crucified (losing the ball ingoal for chads try), but instead he gets man of the match

game of inches

Well, he is probably the most aggressive player in our team at the moment. Problem is, he is a bloody winger. Id give him one more go but he really dose need to practice running on the back foot.

At least he admitted he had a shocker, but as Bigfella has said if we drop him who will get us out of our own 20 metre zone???? the forwards

I was filthy on Eric after Friday night (like everyone else), but when I read the paper I gained respect for him for being man enough to admit he had a shocker.

I wish all of our big backs (Hayne, Ben Smith when fit, Tautai, Reddy and Inu when fit) would run the ball as hard as Eric does. I didn't include Burt because he is too small to cause any defence problems by running hard at them, he needs to slice around them.

Oh, yes, and ALL of our forwards too.

I think Hagan needs to tell Eric to NOT pass the ball unless he is in the oppositions 20m line and he has unmarked support!
