If we are determined to have a player on the bench that plays the last 5-10 minutes, who is it?

It's not Beale, or Sao....

Hey, I don't love it either. But if we are going to have a spot for a bloke to come in and play very few minutes for maximum impact, it at least should not be a guy like Sao.

It could be a guy like Sipley/Paleaaesina or someone like Tony. I was wondering about Perham?

If the potato coach is adamant on that strategy they should have gone after the Coal Train

I reckon Hayze Perham could fill a Hohia type 14 role if Roach or Bully can play 80.

Otherwise we'd probably need to recruit someone (Ben Murdoch Maslia?)

I am in favour of an old school hooker/utility at 14 with 2 props and a back rower as a bench.

But Kearney seems set on-

14- hooker/utility
15- prop
16- prop
17- impact/benchwarmer

Kearney's use of the bench is mind boggling. Its pretty damning to have a player unused for a whole game

Mooks did the same thing start of last season. Is this a plan to get the forwards playing more minutes or something? It's the only thing I can think of. Not that it makes much sense. Wouldn't your whole team be fit and firing at season start? Of course game time is the best test of your fitness but who the f*&k knows???!

Is Beale fit/injured? How is he not in the side ahead of Kata?

Pulu same question on fitness/injury? He should be in the top 17 surely?

How long is Nate out?

I feel if your going to sit a man on the bench and not start him until the 74th minute or later, then that person should be a player with the mindset and free licence to go out there and try things that the rest of the team have failed to do. eg if the team is down by 20, send the guy out there to have a go and score.

If your winning by a country mile, throw him out there with the view of attacking the oppositions weakness and put them out of their misery, that type of player Perham could be, definately not a forward, to use a forward at that stage of the match is just too late and stupid(unless you wanna give one of your guys a break)

I thought Preston Riki made a big impact for the reserves and his defence is rugged.
Would make a good No 17.

And what's with Sao getting 7 minutes on Friday night and then being named captain of the reserves? I thought he must be out of favour. He is looking lean and fit.

Especially since the boys were repeatedly gassed this year (already), it’s absolutely geniused to not use the four bench spots
