There are rockets and then there are rockets.
I see nothing is gained by carrying on like Ricky but Bellamy level of measurement is better.
A fine line.
I’d like to see more from him, but it ain’t him. Like father like son?
He may not want to publicly call out the team which is fair, however I question if he is calling them out behind closed doors because not much is changing. That's my pointOr he just doesn’t want to publicly call out the team or individuals and leave it in house.
After 3 years as coach he never gives much away
Nothing is going to change there. And for me I prefer it that way. No need to have a rant
In modern management terms and in dealing with the last 2 generations I agree with Gus. There's no real advantage to being a transactional manager i.e. always pointing out consequences in a negative way and hitting people with a stick to try and get performance. Good managers, which is what coaches really are these days, use a transformational style now.Gus Gould said something earlier in the year about putting a rocket up players.
Something along the lines of "if you do it, it makes it more about you and your feelings than holding the players to account".
He reckoned you only get maybe one or two a year and, if you deliver them too often, you start to lose the dressing room.
Take a look at the Broncos.
Kevvie's been giving it to them for months now and, from the looks on the players faces (and the results) I dare say he's losing, or lost, them.
I'm all for Fitzy ripping into them, but I think he needs to pick his moments.
