Players coach, to be said we turned it around in the second half and got back to how we won games earlier in the season, I’m not impressed but coach probably looks at a bigger picture

we’re still 4th

There are rockets and then there are rockets.
I see nothing is gained by carrying on like Ricky but Bellamy level of measurement is better.
A fine line.
I’d like to see more from him, but it ain’t him. Like father like son?

Gus Gould said something earlier in the year about putting a rocket up players.
Something along the lines of "if you do it, it makes it more about you and your feelings than holding the players to account".
He reckoned you only get maybe one or two a year and, if you deliver them too often, you start to lose the dressing room.

Take a look at the Broncos.
Kevvie's been giving it to them for months now and, from the looks on the players faces (and the results) I dare say he's losing, or lost, them.

I'm all for Fitzy ripping into them, but I think he needs to pick his moments.

Or he just doesn’t want to publicly call out the team or individuals and leave it in house.

After 3 years as coach he never gives much away

Nothing is going to change there. And for me I prefer it that way. No need to have a rant
He may not want to publicly call out the team which is fair, however I question if he is calling them out behind closed doors because not much is changing. That's my point

Frenzy.

In modern management terms and in dealing with the last 2 generations I agree with Gus. There's no real advantage to being a transactional manager i.e. always pointing out consequences in a negative way and hitting people with a stick to try and get performance. Good managers, which is what coaches really are these days, use a transformational style now.

Makes my life hard when I get asked to do some toe cutting, LOL

I hope that Craig is playing the long game here. We have the inevitable return of our spiritual leader that gets the yips around big games and SOO times and what to do with DA once he arrives. A perpetual reshuffling of the decks ala bench and forward rotation, some forced some planned. Our game plan in the beginning was much like the last game, how to continue this like the start of the year. Can't really put the cue in the rack with the Bulldogs breathing down our necks.

And oh, isn't the rugby league world pushing and hoping that the Doggies finish fourth.
The Fox commentators were straight out saying that they are a top 4 side last night. Considering how we have played over the last 2 months here and there, I guess it's warranted.

They've looked far more like a top 4 side than we have in recent times, agreed.
Hopefully the other night was the start of the guys pulling their fingers out now that the business end of the season is upon us.

They've had a good season, typically the way you want it to. Building slowly, slowly getting better as the season progresses. Two close friends are Dogs supporters, they have both been insufferable wankers lately. I've got a carton each riding on us being higher on the ladder at the death.

Pressure is on.

Said in another thead, maybe this one, but I don't think they are that good.

A lot better sure, but they are the NRL and media darlings and have been helped along.

Should have lost to Parra.

Should have lost to us. 3 tries to 2, and one of theirs was a complete cock up from us. Finished well in front of us for both the penalities and 6 agains then we should have had a penalty in front.

Should have lost to Warriors. The penalty they weren't given in front resulted in the player being suspended for weeks, so that isn't my bias.

With the Dogs getting better again, can't help but feel stories of crowd violence follow soon.
It’s already re-commenced hasn’t it?
- last Sunday game the Raiders fan who gets around like a Viking was pushed around post game.
I don’t mind them but gee they have gotten some leg ups as per @PJ post.
Gus is clever as well, backing in Casey Badger issue with Souths, telling the world to leave her alone….etc.
One positive is that sharks currently don’t exist - seen very little talk about the win Friday aside that Dogs are too 4 certs…
Time will tell us Dogs shat on the new carpet in the sitting room

I have no worries playing them later if we do.
