One thing you can never say about Cayless is that he shirks his duties.
What would you call a bloke who runs 15 times a game for 100m, makes 25 tackles, pops a couple of offloads and puts in even when he's being outmuscled?i agree with everything you said exept for the part that caylo is a work horse.
hindy plays 80 minutes though
I disagree, while he makes 15 hit ups but makes around 30-35 tackles a game and just as many tackles hindy on tackles/min

I have only 2 critisisms of Cayless. He doesnt bend the line back/he surrenders too much for a front rower and he isnt aggressive enough for a front rower. But in saying that, he does alot of good things to and he is our best choice for captain at the moment too. He has the most controled offloading game of any of our forwards.
Great clubman.
to put it into perspective
Gulavau - 150K (atleast 120K i would imagine)
Kingston - 105K (55K + the 50K match payments)
Shakelton - 170K (from all reports)
So 255K vs 170K (+55K for Mitchell) we probably got the better end of the deal. I think we will miss Joe more then Kinga, he has improved so much and I hope Shak can fill that void and then some.
which need to be declared as part of the salary cap anywaymanly signed joe for very little, to the point where he was considering accepting our minimum salary because the cost of transit would have sapped up the difference in manly's offer. manly got him over the line with a rental car and accomodation at crusher's house
because we don't have any of those. How many 80min backrowers can we fit into a side.:crazy:I think Shackleton complements our side. We need a backrower who can play a lot of minutes, and the fact Shacks can also play in the front row is an added bonus. I also recall at the time of his signing that Ando said one reason they signed him is because he is a very good bloke off the field and fits in with the culture they're trying to develop at Parramatta.

We have Hindy obviously. Ben Smith is still finding his feet as a backrower but getting there. Mateo can play a lot of minutes but is wasted as a workhorse. Someone like Shacks who play 30 minutes in the backrow and another 20 in the front will be a very handy asset.
I don't think it was the cost of transit more the inconvenience. He owns a place in St Clair and he and his wife have one car in the family so the effort of commuting every day to Manly and back via public transport would be too time consuming so he was reluctant to sign with Manly for that reason. I wouldn't want to commute via public transport from St Clair to Manly every day either. It could be 2 hours each way.

Joe is weighing up whether he should take Manlys offer or retire, Galuvaos manager Allan Gainey told NRL.com today.
The travelling is the biggest problem he wants to stay in St Marys. He has two kids and a wife and he owns his house out there.
He doesnt want to pay astronomical rent on a three-bedroom unit in Manly it would probably cost him more than his contract is worth!
A major part of Galuvao's deliberations revolved around the nightmarish logistics of commuting from his family home in St Marys to Brookvale with only one car between he and wife, Maybelle. Galuvao was also wary of the impact the move would have on his commitments to troubled youth in Sydney's west, where he provides religious counselling.
"Manly have agreed to help out with a car and they've also said I can spend some night's at (recruitment manager) Noel Cleal's house,'' Galuvao said.
