Thanks MH, absolutely shattered, i have refused to cry yet but i think i'm going to break down in tears any moment soon, yep it's just happened, the tears are rolling down my face right now. Thank you for thinking of me, i'm feeling so numb at the moment.
I just know you were a big fan. I think there’s a lot of very sad people today but big hugs to you and crank up the Grease mega mix and Xanadu.

Far too young for Olivia. Fair to say she was the first love for many boys of a similar age to me. I still remember seeing Xanadu at the Kingswood drive in when it first came out. Terrible movie, but it didn’t matter. Olivia was an angel and I was smitten.

She was always a stunning looking woman but i reckon she was at her stunning looking best in Xanadu.++

Agree 100000000000000%

For some reason Grease just didn't resonate with me, I still haven't seen it in its entirety to this day, but Xanadu - the hair, the eyes, plus I think her voice had matured a little and throw in some ELO for good measure and this was peak Olivia for me personally.

To say she will be missed truly is an understatement.

Yes while i do like Grease it doesn't resonate with me either as much as Xanadu does, i remember when the soundtrack came out before the movie was released and i bought it and kept on playing it over and over, two of my all time favourites on one album, Olivia and ELO.

I bought Olivia's single "Banks of the Ohio" back in 1971.

About the same time, Joan Baez had the single "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" which I also bought.

Eerily enough, I had a dream about both of these songs last night.

Some dude was asking me how much they cost and I told him one dollar each (in reality, true). He then argued that I should be paying $1.10 (in reality, the price increased in the mid 1970s).

Weird. My brain is going 25 hours a day and I can't stop it. Been going on for over 40 years. Aaggrrhh!

I've been quite down today because of this news. Grease was a big part of my younger life.....LOVED it. Xanadu came along for me much later and well into my adult life. I knew quite a lot of the songs from it without realising they came from the soundtrack to "Xanadu".
I reckon I've played that "Xanadu" clip a good half a dozen times today. Gene Kelly as graceful as ever on skates when he was almost 70, Matt Latanzi (ex-hubby), a guy named Ozone (known from Electric Boogaloo) and the Heath Ledger lookalike in Michael Beck in one clip. Absolutely magic clip and dance routine!!!
I've always joked with a couple of my mates that if every man on Earth married a clone of Olivia Newton-John, there would be no wars and world peace. Great Australian who will be missed and remembered.

I didn't take my IPOD into work yesterday because i thought if an Olivia song came up on it i would start bawling. I took in today and played on shuffle and was happy that no Olivia song came up today because i think i would have started bawling again. I love watching Xanadu but i think its going to be a while till i can watch it again.
Recorded a bit of the Today Show this morning and just watched it because i wanted to see ABBA's tribute to her, they showed one of the people who was in her cancer centre who is in remission and i just started blubbling away again, she touched so many people in different ways. Will be happy to hear Olivia on my IPOD at work again tomorrow though, i have a few different mixes of Xanadu on it.

She just got a full 15 minutes lead in story on ch 9 news. That just doesn’t happen. Again, such a lovely, lovable person who will be sorely missed.
Apologies to Horrie and co. but I think it's getting a bit too much. Five minutes max would have sufficed. Not the only person to die this year.
