In response to Freaks anti Thorman sentiments

I've always said a good footballers game is like a good fart, you remember the time & place of a good one....but when one goes horribly wrong you loose faith in that skill ( or player) and forget the good times you had & memories.

So what your saying Freak is that Thorman is the reason why we loose??.... What about just a shocking coincidence?

Remember when we lost 5 straights games early on in 97??, then once David Woods done his knee we won 11 straight! so in principle to what your saying he was too the reason for our losses?

I find it so hypocritical that some on this forum to others like myself call us bad supporters because we don't stick by the players.

I just wan't to show you something, this is in relation to Michael Witt

Glad you're sticking by him Freak, unlike other supporters

Now if that isn't the most biased, hypocritical comments I have ever heard then I’ll sit my arse on a pogo stick naked and ride down to Oxford street and lead a Congo dance...naked!!!...And I will nominate Bob Downe & Julian Clarie as the lucky recipients!!

Thormans performances in the first 3 games of his NRL career resulted in him being probably in Parra's best 3 in those games, remember Thorman has played only 5 NRL games......compare that to Witt who has played many more & yet I’ve seen him dominate an NRL game in that time......well there was that Souths game last year, very significant performance

Not that Thorman has completely dominated a game....however commentators & fans feel that he can offer something.

It's about time people got of there one eyed views and looked at a game objectively not through the perception of one's favourite player.

I know I’m known to not say some nice things about Peterson, and as much as people piss & moan about my comments I know I’m right...and just like a good porn film...you know what's going to happen in the end, Peterson will f**k up.

Now I won't go into detail about Peterson as people already know my views, and I’ve always said that once Peterson gains some consistency to his game I’ll leave him alone.

Don't get me wrong I will & have congratulated some of my lesser favourites for good games, however I’m more then willing to dish out criticism when it's due, unlike most Blue & Gold groupies on this board where it's like " your not a good supporter", "you cannot call yourself a true fan for bagging your team like that" or " Why do we wan't Matt Orford for when we have Michael Witt" or " Tahu is a shit player" I say go and get f**ked! instead of smacking you when you where born they smacked your mother!!

In conclusion, I don't think Thorman is our answer, either do I think Michael Witt is, and the TV games I’ve seen of both suggest that, they are as good as one other, only difference is we signed one to a 1 year deal ( with option) on next to nothing and another on what I’d say would probably be a very good 4 year deal with great incentives in place if he were to climb in status as an NRL player, I wan't both players to succeed for our club, I love being proven right, however I doubt this will happen, much the same as the Peterson scenario.......creams rises to the top.

It's about time Parra fans....well one eyed fans who don't watch a game closely enough to witness the errors of many of there favourite players to get of that suppository there on and take note, that's why I’m criticised.......I don't care if it is bloody Julian Clarie or Bob Downe I’ll say it as it is......the truth!!

What we lack is an organising halfback that tells the players where to go and takes the game into his own hands...from what i heard T.Smith is a player that exactly does this....i think its time to give him a shot
who cares if i dosent work..nothing else has...give him a shot, he might suprise us

I agree with you, but my argument is about the blame one player has taken for a overall pathetic team performance.

example 2 of biased sentiments towards Thorman

Witt has a lot of talent. It's not his fault the side is performing poorly this year. Some people are using him as a scapegoat but I think that is unfair. He's still young and has a big future ahead of him.

You mean Thorman don't you?, he's the one getting bagged for everything from pissing on the toilet seat to farting in church.......not Witt!!!....he has never done a bad thing, he's that good that he even cleans the toilet seat after a teammate accident.

May be but why bring another premature solution to the table. The problem has been that neither Witt or Thorman have been given a chance to show what they are made of. We can all criticise Thorman but remember one thing, even Lockyer took 3 or 4 games to adjust when he moved into the halves. If Dykes stays let him be our 5/8 and pick either Thorman or Witt as half back and persist with them, do not give them an option of failing its them or nothing; they will come good.

Based on Smiths post match interview, Thorman will have another shot. Hopefully with a full weeks training, knowing right from the start where he stands in the team he can show what he's made of.

Like I have mentioned before - Thorman is VERY selfish and backs himself too often.

On countless occassions he has had the ball 5m out from the line on the las and ran it himself or kicked it for himself.

As the commentators for the Warriors game said, he wants to be the hero.

Well, last time I checked football was a team sport.

He is running to the line like all good playmakers do, just no one else in side does that so he is all alone.

the underlying problem is.......that no player has been given a decent chance to play consecutive games in the halves, barring Dykes to an extent this year....oh and maybe Wagon???? (give me strength) and......if they do they play in the wrong position

What's your problem mate?

And why are you using my posts as examples of "bias"?

Somehow i'm being biased against Thorman without even mentioning him. I don't see how that works

Secondly, to be biased is usually to be motivated by means which result in a less than objective view. Please explain why I am being biased and how I am doing so then i'll make a proper response.

Till then get your facts right.

Ron I respect your judgement as I did when we first signed Thorman, however stats talk for themselves. Im not saying he is responsible for our losses, but he has contributed to them.

I think Thormans biggest mistake he made was not getting out here until Feb 04!
With his minimum time before the start of the season with us, he mised out on the opportunity to play in our full strength side where by all accounts he could have made a name for himself.

IMO he has the best kicking game in the club, however it's a resource untapped due to inconsistant lineups and poor pre season preperation.

All this being the case my thread was not meant to be a Thorman bash but a show of support for Michael Witt, and YES considering the following I believe Witty was entitled to a shot in first grade this year before Thorman, however this is now history and we are worse off for it!

By the way Ron you have been on R League and this site as long as I have and you should know how critical I was of Witty last year, and I always judge all players and our team, club in general with an open mind. No favorites here champ!!!

all the players are to blame for the losses. thorman is one helluva player and i reckon we're better off with him and witt in the halves. dykes can p*ss back off to cronulla where he belongs as far as im concerned.

I agree with this....i think given time witt at 1\2 and thorman at 5\8 will work...thorman goes well out wide and when witt got the ball against the warriers he broke the line and played ok, he should also be given the kicking in play duties as well....

...unlike most Blue & Gold groupies on this board where it's like " your not a good supporter", "you cannot call yourself a true fan for bagging your team like that" or " Why do we wan't Matt Orford for when we have Michael Witt" or " Tahu is a sh*t player" I say go and get f***ed! instead of smacking you when you where born they smacked your mother!!
can't we all be good friends and good parra fans? O:)
what people on a board need to see is some people show support by loving and defending everyone, some show it by breaking down each game and being critical of certain plays or players, some show it by all or none of the above. i don't doubt anyones faith here, but it seems like most of the time we are giving each other shit for our opinons! #-o
