Just goes to show with the lack of candidates how the BOD better known as board of d!!!heads have stuffed up. Last year we could have chased a coach now we have to see who isn’t wanted then pick out of that bunch. I’d take Wane he has that take no prisoners thought and he is outside the mates of the clubs board bubble

Agreed.

If the board had punted McGregor after that dogs loss when they should have, then we could have landed Shaun Wane without any competition from other clubs, as no coach had been punted at that time.

Procrastination may cost us dearly...

I am staggered that Furner gets a mention and no suggestion that Wane is on the short list; wtf is wrong with the clowns running or show it that is true!!

A combination of inept BOD and media that just say whatever they feel like not based on fact, so in reality no one knows what is actually happening

Furner no way in hell. Unless we were going to revert back to the 70s where a brawl was a good initiation to a game then Furner may come in handy.

I don't mind Furner - he's been around a lot and has definitely learned his trade,...he's a hard ass and would do well w us..my preference has always been Kevvie Walters...knows how to structure attack and more importantly knows how to get the best out of our most expensive player in Ben Hunt... but the news is he's heading to Broncos which then means..Green may be available...and once again wouldn't mind him..if i was the dragons I would wait till the Nth Qld job gets given then go in...I don't rate Payten...Shaun Wane is a great coach but just something tells me he may be a big shift for our club so much so it may take 2-3 years before we see his work come to fruition. My preference in order w Young to be ordained as the hereditary assistant coach for anyone being appointed.

Walters / Young
Fitzgibbon / Young
Green / Young
Wane / Young
Furner / Young
Griffin / Young
Toovey / Young

I would rather have Walters than Toovey

Walters has been mentored by Bennett and Bellamy

I don’t actually know , but he doesn’t sound real smart at press conferences and interviews. I struggle to see what he has done that attracts me to want him

he was a good player but is he really a good coach

SOO is a different kettle fish and he is 50 % there , even Bellamy failed there

All QLD clubs don’t want him , so is there a problem with him , he keeps getting rejected and I’ve heard Green is ahead of him for the Broncs job?
Sometimes there’s a valid reason some coaches stay unemployed for a reason

Do others know any solid info or have any opinions on him

This is the reason I wasn't shattered to go through 2021 with Mary still. Saves us some coin and its all good to sack a coach if we have someone to replace him with but if no one better is available what is the point? I hope I'm wrong and they have a master plan we are all unaware of but sideways or even backwards trades is not what we need. If we keep Mary for 2021 we can choose out of Bennett, Flanno, Fitzy or potentially though less likely Wane. Now we are going to end up on the coaching carousel for 3-4 years again.

For me, we have the cash and should go for nothing but the best. The top 3 proven coaches are:
Bennett
Bellamy
Wane
If the Board wanted certainty, then they could sign Wane now as he is available. But if positive discussions are ongoing with Bennett and/or Bellamy, then I can understand why a decision has not yet been made.

I agree but none of those are available.

Reports are that Wane is in the running for the Cowboys job so that would make him available one would think...
For me if he is considering coaching here , I'd be going all out to get him , someone with no links to the club or players .... Someone with different coaching structures ..... Fresh start would be with him ....
