Contrary to some opinion Wane was and is passionate about securing an NRL coaching role.

He's an experienced man manager, is defense minded, has created and come from a winning culture.

He was a nd still remains our best option and if Webby and the board are smart they will lock him down asap.

Act now, sign Wane and make up for the mistakes of the recent past...
Yes and let the Fans for once Choose a coach and if it stuffs up, we can only blame ourselves.
Give him a 2 year contract NOW!

The only thing I can think is he doesn’t want the job because he doesn’t like our roster. The cowboys have a good team on paper that a good coach and few smart acquisitions could really get going. Good coaches all know you are only as good as your roster.

Why do we hear about the cowboys but not anything about us?
It is typical. Crossing all of the tees and dotting all of the i's takes the BOD to make it look like they are doing due process before anything is announced or even hinting to give us some idea who exactly they are genuinely considering.

It is a must that someone is named quickly so that plans are put into place on so many things such as players to keep, players to lose and recruit, assistant coaches and structure of support staff, etc.

As many of us has said, by the time a new coach is chosen and accepted, most of the better players will not be available. Any new players being approached by recruitment will want to know who our coach will be before making any decision/commitment.

So far the Bulldogs (Barrett), Warriors (Brown) and Cowboys (Payten to be confirmed) are done. I won't be surprised if Brisbane announces their new coach pretty soon and then we will be the one lagging and left with Young and the Board, through Webb, will say that because of the due process needed and being mindful of making sure that their decision is the correct one going forward, it took too long and therefore as there are no one else available, we have stuck with Dean Young as the successor to Paul McGregor.

Pull your fingers out Dragons BOD.

For a new start, someone far divorced from the club need to be appointed, Wane's resume sounds ideal, but is the name St George now poison to good competent coaches?
I don’t think so KD! I If I fancied myself as a coach I’d be more than happy at the opportunity to coach Saints with some of their players coming through.

I do agree with the independent coach and as mentioned somewhere else my preference would be John Cartwright as I personally think he offers more than some of the names thrown around (Bennett & Bellamy aside).
His coaching I believe, would be focused more on how we play as team and develop skills and confidence accordingly; let the players tap into that, rather than the disciplinarian style rhetoric of say a Green or Maguire. Get them playing football rather than the “no errors and block play” rubbish we’ve seen for seven years.

Someone like Wane probably hasn’t seen much Ramsey, Sullivan or Feagai though which for me is a good thing. I’d love to see him come in with a fresh set of eyes, no bias, no mates and see who he starts with, what style he gets them playing and the combos he gets them forming.

How about the warriors and cowboys jobs became available before the Dragons job?

No, you say you do and I believe you, but then you seem to do your best to convince yourself he's not available.

That's all...
It’s not him I’m worried about it’s our clubs silence. Plus the media silence. Our club is gossip gold to the parasites, if he had been interviewed or even mentioned it would be leaked by now. Furner and Griffin have for ffs. There must be some sticking point otherwise he would have landed the warriors or cowboys job yeah? Is there anyone in the League universe who thinks Brown is better than Wane?

Fair enough.

The clubs silence on Wane could be a good thing. They have a history of keeping signings very quiet until secured.

As for the warriors, they came out and said early on, that they were after a long term coach, like a decade or more and Brown may fit this criteria better than Wane.

For us, if it comes down to Wane or Griffin then hopefully the board can see that Wane has far more upside...

Well if anyone saw the way the titans attacked us you will understand that they have a coach who is playing to their strengths.

Where as our attack is 1 dimensional and we are like this cause that’s how we train.

We are still living in the 80s ala Warren Ryan umbrella style defence.

We are still also trying to understand that the rules had changed to 10 meters and not 5. So at least we are on the right track after 20 years.

That is how far behind we are

Isn't Cartwright a former Saints player? Has a bad trot coaching the Titans.

Maybe a good assistant coach to Wane.

I do believe that we have missed the boat with Wane . Yes he imo , would had been ideal , however his first preference was the Cowboys . That being the case I cannot see the man doing a complete about face and putting his hand up for the Dragons vacancy at this point in time .

He did spend a year at the Roosters as an assistant to Robinson so he does have some basic understanding of other NRL teams . and where they are at . The Roosters system being 100% professional and the Dragons come with a lot of baggage .

No I think that he has called it a day for the time being as far as the NRL is concerned for season 2021 - unfortunately .

I think the Cowboy's coaching job was advertised prior to the Saints job. It will not be a backflip if Wane misses the Cowboys job and then gets the Saints job.

In my opinion, our Board should have acted quickly to entice Wane to come to Saints.

Shaun Wane is itching for an NRL gig.

At the end of last year, before Gould intervened with that pantomime review that he now denies having much knowledge of to save McGregor, Wane sent public messages to the club that he wanted to come and take the job. We snubbed him, and doubled down on what anyone could see was an absolute disaster.

It sounds like we're doing it again. Mucking around with old failed coaches and Young.

Totally agree with you possum . If he did turn out to be the Dragons new coach then he would certainly have the added bonus of being able to lure some of the better ESLeague players to the Red&Whites .

Wane, a bloke who has never had a manager in his life, even went to the extent of hiring management over here to represent him.

If the board truly want the best outcome and to right the wrongs of the past, then they need to reconsider Shaun Wane.

He is the best candidate available by a country mile and the sooner the Dragons realise it the better the future of the club will be...
