First of all, where did you get your argument that part time spinners take wickets in India? Sehwag averages 47 with the ball in tests. He is a pure batsman that bowls pies and everybody knows that but you. Overseas spin bowlers, even the best usually struggle in India.

Second, Andrew Symonds made his mark with that 140 odd against Pakistan in the 03 World Cup. Maxwell hasn't played an innings in the same galaxy as that. The comparison is non existent.

Thirdly, where has it been defined that Khawaja is the worst fieldsman in Australia? Didn't he field at bat pad for a while? Only good fielders get placed there.

Sehwag has a test 5 for against Australia in India, almost certian (was in the last tour, either 4 or 5). Would you call him a front liner? As I said a part time spinner is better than none at all.

Again you haven't seen Maxwell in the Shield who has played a number of quality innings, and a 90 odd in an Aus A game against SA. He is a very different 4 day bat than a one day/T20 bat.

Khawaja is terrible in the field...do you not remember him dropping catches at short leg, it was embarrassing. Australia generally just "plonk the new guy" at short leg...to say Khawaja was bad there is being very kind.

No one said that about Symonds lol. Roy was consistent in the shield and also consistent in ODI and was score for score out performing Martyn. Symonds was actually a decent offie, he could swing his mediums and he had a good technique just not much patience but that 100 against England in Melbourne showed otherwise as it was nicely crafted. Symonds was a good all round cricketer who got distracted. Comparing him to Maxwell is like comparing a gold ring to a turd.

Everything you said is just Maxwell apart from the mediums. Make no mistake Maxwell is the best fielder in the country, it is a big advantage having that type of player in your side. He is inconsistent with the bat, with potential there (like Symonds) to win a game off his own bat! His offies are part time but they are no worse than most spinners in Australia.

I don't care what TBS has done in state cricket, until he hits a century against an attack equal to Wasim/Waqar/Shoaib he does not have any Symonds like potential.

And he's hardly the best fielder in the team let alone the country.

Maxwell is nothing like Symonds you genius. Symo crafted his art on Sheffield Shield since the mid 90's before getting an opportunity in Tests almost a decade later. He scored 40 centuries, 60-odd half centuries. Took 240-odd wickets and that's just first class.

Symo came from an era where you had to churn out runs for years before getting a look in to the national side. Maxwell has been given a free ride. No form, no runs, no wickets, no technique, nothing but the ability to shine knobs.

Outfield maybe, but not in the in field, Maxwell is elite.

:lol::lol: The Show is about as elite as you locky.

I will say that the show is a decent fielder, better than Davey who gets a lot of undeserved raps, but he's nothing special, certainly nit in the Symonds, Ponting, M Waugh class. The standard if Australian fielding has slipped markedly over the last ten years

All this is moot because you don't choose test cricketers because they are good fielders FFS.

You seen Maxwell in the in field, there is a reason Victoria put him in every cruicial position in the field...he gets a LOT of runouts, and that is critical. You don't choose great fielders just becuase of their fielding...but you refuse to pick others with poor fielding (Khawaja for one)
