Wtf? Who grades these things? It's a joke. Smith, Hoffman and bent eo should get more- inglis less. Burns prob bout right.
Can anyone explain smith not being charged? What was the difference between what he done and what Blair done? Only difference I can see is that ones an Aussie and ones a kiwi

Nothing to do with Aussie, more like one plays for a News club, and is a golden boy who pisses out rainbows.

As a rabbits fan 2-3 weeks for the inglis hit would seem fair. If roles were reversed and our slowest player was shoulder charged by the opposing teams best player I'd expect a similar result.

Cam smith no charge is unbelievable. Deadset should be cooling his heels for few weeks to send a message to the Storm and all clubs that those tackles are unacceptable.

Haven't seen the burns hit, is there any footage avail?

From the Rabbitohs:
The South Sydney Rabbitohs are shocked by the grade four dangerous contact charge handed down to player Greg Inglis by the NRL Match Review Committee, and have spoken out about the statements made by the opposition Coach in the post-match press conference and the prejudicial nature of those statements.

The Rabbitohs and Inglis have until Tuesday afternoon to submit their plea following the charge, but Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire believes that inflammatory comments by Steve Price to the media have played a role in the unusually high grading of the charge.

“Steve Price’s comments have exacerbated this situation resulting in a high grading for this incident,” Coach Maguire said.

“He came out and compared this tackle to one where his player was charged earlier in the year, where he raised his elbow and struck an opposition player square in the face.

“To compare these two incidents is ridiculous to say the least, and to do so can only be designed to be inflammatory and to try and prejudice the case before it reaches the match review committee.

“We operated within the rules of the NRL. The Dragons didn’t.

“It is against the NRL Rules to comment on any matter that is subject to review by the Match Review Committee or the Judiciary, and Steve Price’s comments have incited a media frenzy around this incident.

“His comments have exacerbated this situation, and if this isn’t a clear case of trying to prejudice a case against a player then I don’t know what is.

“We want to know what the ARLC is going to do about his comments, which were made two days ago, which are clearly against the rules, as it is harmful to the game and reputation of our player and our Club.

It’s bad for the game, yet despite several conversations with the ARLC by myself and the CEO since Saturday’s game, nothing has been done about it.
“It’s not good enough.”

Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson agrees with his Head Coach’s comments saying a clear line needs to be drawn.

“It clearly states in the NRL Code of Conduct, section 30, sub-sections (1) and (2) under the heading of ‘Public Comment’, that no one shall comment on any subject of a proceeding before the Match Review Committee,” Mr Richardson said.

“The tackle was put on report, and was therefore going to be reviewed by the Match Review Committee.

“We did the right thing and made no adverse comments on the situation, but Steve Price did, and he’s broken the rules.

“The ARLC should be doing something about this, and as yet nothing has been done. It needs to be acted upon, and it needed to happen yesterday.”

And the response from the Dragons:
St George Illawarra Dragons CEO Peter Doust stated this evening:

“The Dragons strongly refute any allegations made in respect of the comments of Head Coach Steve Price in the post-match press conference on Saturday.

“Steve Price on several occasions declined to make any detailed remarks on the incident concerning the Rabbitohs’ player and acknowledged that it was on report and therefore subject to the NRL judicial process.

“On review of the transcript from the post-match press conference, Steve Price clearly stated the obvious and looked to comment on Dean Young’s wellbeing – the subject of many enquiries on that evening.

“The circumstances of the comments made around the North Queensland Cowboys were again the response to a specific enquiry made by the media.

“Dragons player Matt Prior at the time accepted comments made by many parties prior to the judicial enquiry.

“We believe the Rabbitohs’ comments are very outrageous, emotional and transparent.
“It is laughable that they would look to blame Steve Price.

“Steve was measured in what he said in the post-match press conference.

“The incident concerning the Rabbitohs’ player was clear for everyone to see and as he said at the time, it is now in the hands of the judiciary.”

he won't miss 4 weeks.

Given Maguire has said they'll contest - it'll be either 5 if the judiciary finds him guilty - or a downgrade which is the more likely outcome. He'll then get 2-3 weeks and your comparison will look silly.

He was only off for less than 10 mins at the end of a game they won so I wouldn't take that into consideration

Steve Price is not the bad guy here ... If the officials on field could do their job properly then Inglis would have been sent off and the Price conversation in the press conference would not have eventuated.

Yet again the lack of consistancy with on field officials is causing the problems ..

The bad guys in this who situation are

1. Greg Inglis
2. The on field officials

Not Dean Young, Not Ben Hornby and Not Steve Price

Not pretty but the charge still seems excessive. Taking into account the send off as well.

he jumped up with a swinging arm to hit the bloke in the head and breaking his nose after being told to settle down.

the referees on the ground were asked by the video bloke if they needed him to have a look and the answer was no, he's going.

also second offence in the same game

Burns facing 16 weeks is unbelievable. These lucky dip gradings are proof that the whole system needs to be scrapped and started from scratch.
Don't know how to improve the current system, maybe cap suspensions at 4 weeks and then fine the clubs on top for severe cases. Then it's upto the clubs to take action against players.

I also think gradings should be handed down quicker so the media can't have an influence.
The dicks that do the gradings need to start explaining how they work out the grades for each offence.

Fair enough, however without adding to the mountainous butthurt, Prior copped 7 I think for what looked far worse than Burns.

Either way the MRC is wildly inconsistent.

Maguire is definitely from the Bellamy School.

Look, is it possible that we can get Steve Price suspended? If he's not pulling down the medias pants, he's getting blokes suspended.

Its no wonder he's got no time to coach.

The thing is, Burns isn't facing 16 weeks.

He's facing 12 weeks, but if he tries to contest the charges and isn't successful, THEN he'll get 16 weeks.

He may even apply for a downgrade, and if successful only miss 6 or 7 games.

So show me consistency, shoulder charges and what they received:

Frank Pritchard: Careless High Tackle, Grade 1. Out 1 week:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPxJDKBq3RM&sns=em*

Ben Teo: Dangerous Contact: Grade 3, downgraded to 2. Out 2 weeks:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26dDOe1XE5k&sns=em

Inglis gets a Dangerous Contact, Grade 4, to miss 4 weeks.
7 years and never been cited before.

Farce.

Not a farce...it is a @#$%#!$ %!@#% !@%!@% #!@## %$!#@ #@ farce
