Broncos R19 in Brisbane.

Eisenhuth very good against big bodies but a lack of mobility badly exposed by small, nimble players in the middle of the paddock. If Penrith are at full strength they will easily capitalise against him.
His lack of mobility against nimble players was exposed in the run away Staggs try when he failed to wrap up the guy who handed the ball to Staggs. Sloan has been blamed for allowing that try but after Eisenhuths slackness Sloan was forced to make a desperate but fruitless dive to stop him.
Eisenhuth is not so good against big bodies either unless he goes low which he does not do often. Mostly he will try to hold the big unit until help arrives.

I thought Kyle did a lot of organizing, very busy pointing and telling the boys what to do and urging them to push up, it was very noticeable.
:100: That impressed me too. Add his 3 LBA and 3 TA and it was his best game since way back in the trials against the Tigers and it was done without Hunt on the paddock. From memory he played well too the last time Hunt was absent. More than a coincidence?

After such a domination of the first 50 minutes they should never have let their forwards take control in the last 30. I was surprised the Broncos forwards were able to rise in the 2nd half after being smashed till then but the referee helped by only refereeing one side on the 10m in the 2nd half and some timely odd penalties and seemingly random set restarts against us.
That’s my reading of the game as well. Does our power game take it out of us because we should have still had some energy the last 15 mins . A lack of a true leader or the fact that with the quality we have it’s expected?

Said many times Hunt needs to go ..... 7 years as our play maker and he has got us nowhere ........ I will be dirty big time if they renew his contract .......

My mate in Kentucky has been watching all year. I think this week was the first time he has had a Saints game. (He gets one game a week, most weeks). He still says “Rugby” though, and watches Union games sometimes not really knowing before the game starts that it is different. But he says he enjoys NRL the most of the games he gets to see.

He messaged me afterwards, “are Brisbane known as a dirty team?”. He especially didn’t like them throwing the ball at Sloan after the tries.

Unfortunately I think he is becoming a bit of a Roosters supporter.

I think Max F scores if he just gone himself. The indecision to pass or dummy to Rav cost us a try. Either option taken fully and we most probably score.
100% its something I remember in Moga and maybe a little in MattF, im not sure if its because they are coming up from reserves, but they dont have that killer instinct baked in 'yet'.. they hesitate just for a split second and thats all it takes, probably not wanting to do the wrong thing by the team by not getting bundled into touch or been seen to be selfish by not passing etc.. but I think the more games they play in 1sts, the more confident they get to back themselves.

Its actually one of the things ive always felt right back to the Mundine G/F no-pass in 1999, everytime u throw a ball in traffic there is a chance it gets knocked down or intercepted or fumbled/dropped.. if its even remotely a 50/50 call, id always prefer if the player just went himself, I think the odds of success are much higher, not to mention usually worst case u play the ball and go again.

too true. How many times do you see a bombed try on the edges (from all teams) and the guy who bombs the try passing or trying to pass the ball to the winger ends up over the line himself?

I will always maintain Mundine got hit high in that tackle and spilt the ball. A different outcome today under the bunker system, another premiership in the cabinet.

at 18-6 in that game wishart drops the ball from the kick off and Roarty scores that set with Mary missing the tackle. If that happens in a grand final now though we potentially get a penalty for a high shot.

With choc, it was he knee knocking his left elbow that jolted the ball out. The worst thing about that decision was that Kimmorley knocked the ball on 2m out from the try line and mundine picked it up knocking on over the line. Should have been our scrum 10m out not a 20m tap to them.

but it was Billy boy the referee, wouldn't he have just loved the 6 again rule, he could manage every game's outcome much easier if he had that weapon. He missed a clear forward pass for one of Melbourne's tries too, I was right in line with it - a metre forward at least....he didn't want to mess with their momentum he had given them.

Prove to me that Treacy catches the pass ;-)
this is what im saying.. drives me bonkers every weekend commentators are like 'if he passed the ball they score', yeah maybe.. there are a number of dice rolls involved in throwing a pass across traffic... and the worst of all being intercept risk.

I might be a bit more optimistic if our players had those sticky fingers that the rep players seem to have.. catching balls on their ankles or behind them etc..

He did get hit on the top of the head, that though was more because of him diving for the line, and on top, I mean literally.

I've queued it if you want to re-watch that one part on this video which is set to start when Mundine get's the ball in the lead up -

Back then, it wouldn't have merited a penalty, and Mundie himself was not blowing up about being hit high.

Anyways.......

999 times out of 1000 Mundine scores that try so to say he should of passed it is a bit of a stretch.
Mundine wasn't a hog so I'd back his judgement that he believed he would score. Furthermore even after that event I still thought we were going to win.

And it's hard to be critical of him given he was the main reason we even made it to the GF.

We had quite a few opportunities to win that game. When Jowls scored, that should have been the game then & there.

Melbourne were given a fair leg up by Harrigan which told in the end.
Their forwards grabbed the momentum & we crumbled.

I remember walking outside at halftime and thinking finally I get to see us win a grand final again after so many f*cking disappointments. And then to lose like that and watch that fat turd Lazzo mock Blacklock & Mundine by doing cartwheels after fulltime was the last straw.

I necked an entire bottle of rum straight that night.
In fact I was so dirty on it that when we finally won in 2010 it had surprisingly little impact upon me. I guess the 30 years leading up to it had taken their toll.

Reffed out of a win. Couldn't bear to watch the full replay. The grand final that we definitely should have won.
