It's good for the NRL. Finally a star who didn't chase the much bigger money in another code. The last thing we needed this offseason is another superstar heading that way and the negative headlines that came with it that would overshadow the AFL's current sh*t headlines.

Good for Souths. We managed to attract one of the best players in the world at the age of 23 to join us. Simply unimaginable 5 years ago.

And it's good for GI, despite the NRL's best efforts to make it as difficult as possible for him he is still with the game he loves. Not chasing the bigger bucks and staying with rugby league will help with his popularity amongst the general public (other than with the haters who would find something to complain about if he saved an old lady from an oncoming car).

And for the critics, we lost a good center to get a great center, so no doubt all is above board in terms of the cap.

He got a 3 year contract. He only had 1 more year with us. That's where the benefit comes in for him. He just got guaranteed about 600k more than he had until now.
