I'll agree there. Until recently making it to the finals would have been a massive success. In 2011 any less than that would be a massive failure.no good on you BM... good luck.
would be terrible to miss out again though.... weight is on their shoulders for a semi's birth.
i spose inglis minus the great team he had around him now has to prove what he can do as an individual. its going to be fun to watch
About the Champion/Melbourne side of the equation. I'm happy for Champion that he's going to a team that should be a contender and that seems to have a habit of getting the best of its players. Having said that I am surprised they can afford him. But there's no way the Storm would try something dodgy so soon after the scandal.
Yep because Burgess and Taylor and Luke have gone to sh*t since playing for us. Oh wait, Taylor made his origin debut with us, Burgess has established himself as one of the best forwards in the world, and Luke as the next great hooker in the game. This will be great to see. In about 10 rounds of league you will see Champion under excellent coaches down in Melbourne play as well as the superstar GI was down there.
Then we will see GI play below potential and slowly fade away as a name in the game. Souths is where league players go to kill their career.
Does anyone really care? Yet another attempt by Souths to buy a premiership.... Its a yearly occurance.. Who is it gonna be next year? Billy Slater? Cam Smith?

The pressure will definetley be there. But in a way that could be a good thing. Like the mirror image of the Storm and their "winning culture", Souths had an ingrained losing culture for a long time, and that becomes infectious. But now with being in the headlines, buying a champion like Inglis, being 2nd favourites with the bookies. All that expectation and pressure could be just the thing to get rid of the losing mentality.
I think he'll get paddocks of open space to run in and make his barnstorming runs off the back of Burgess and Taylor offloads.
I don't think I could handle a GF against the Roosters or Dragons. The ultimate all or nothing. Ending our 40 year drought against 2 of the old enemies would be the sweetest premiership ever. But getting so close and losing to one of them, I think it would kill me.Blah blah blah, god almighty...Onya Souths..
Still no premiership though, that's for the Knights in 2011 but hopefully you'll be up there..
Having said that - for Sydney at least - A Bunnies, Roosters or SGI GF would be friggin enourmous...

At this stage I'm picking a Souths v Storm gf for 2011. Would be huge. One of the big Sydney teams v a non NSW team. Plus the Inglis/Champion/2009 Scandal subplots.
Asotasi and Crocker are both on big money and they'll make way so we can afford the Luke/Burgess/Taylor/Inglis core. You've made the finals how many times in the last decade? Once:lol:? Making the finals will still be a massive achievement. Great news for Souths but if they're backloading all these contracts I can't see how they're going to stay under the cap.
I'm not suggesting Sandow and Sutton are in the same class as Thurston, Lockyer and Cronk. Having said that, they were the halves of the 2nd best attacking team in 2010. They aren't as bad as people make them out to be. And Sandow is young and improving, he'll be better in 2011 than he was in 2010.'Paddocks of open space'.
Since when were Sandow & Sutton competent halves? Burgess & Taylor are quite capable of creating space for Sandow & Sutton, yes, we saw that this year. But let's be honest, Sandow & Sutton aren't capable of getting good ball to Inglis and without this, he's not going to do much for you.
Inglis has played outside Thurston, Lockyer and Cronk. Great halves who give him the opportunity to do something. Sandow, nor Sutton are capable of giving Inglis the same opportunities with the ball.
Sandow's terrible and Sutton lacks consistency.
Life isn't always fair, noone is jumping up and down at the thought of losing him. But the hundreds of thousand extra dollars he's now guaranteed that he wasn't before today will cheer him up.
Remember, he chose to go (with our blessing). But we couldn't force him if he didn't want to. This gives him long term security, we wouldn't have resigned him.
