Injury update

I don't think Hook will plan to have a different fullback for different games. Whoever is fullback will be tested under high balls. I think he'll go for Whare with Peach at centre. Peach is unlikely to play big minutes on Wednesday. I also think we should have a recognised goal kicker, so play Cleary and rest Maloney would be my initial plan, with May at 6.

Not just the game. There is a lunchtime function for the NSW team on Thurs. which cuts it close to gametime when we actually get them.

I think we play the same 17. With either Ellis or Aekins in

I prefer mine because we still get the benifit of DWZ while adding the skill of Luai. The third option in attack would be invaluable in the opposition 20m.

DWZ has played very limited FB too. So it isn't like we are moving an experienced FB. As long as we don't lose too much with kick returns the attack benefit it too good to not use

I hope that NRL.com is just useless and unaware of Aikens/Luai playing FB because this is what they wrote:

With Tyrone Peachey set to return from Origin duty for Penrith's clash with Cronulla next Friday, coach Anthony Griffin could use the NSW utility at the back or shuffle his back line to put Dean Whare, Waqa Blake, Christian Crichton or Tyrone Phillips in the No.1 jersey.

No need to assume that anything written on NRL.com is informed. It writes the same drivel as the rest of the sports media these days. Case in point Michael Chammas’s article about the “mid season review”. He wrote it without having spoken with anyone at the club.

Not a week goes by this season where we don't endure another damaging injury and DWZ is the latest casualty.

No shortage of possible replacements, Whare, Blake, Aekins, Laui or May but none are ideal and it is just another hurdle we have to cope with in this injury riddled season.

Take your point but experience in key positions is vital for the finals. We haven’t even seen Luai pay FB in first grade yet, way too early to give him that position in front of DWZ.

Shouldn't have too much trouble getting a sponsorship from health insurance company for 2019.:)

What I've seen has been good but damn that's a huge effort. Imagine beating the Sharks with a spine of rookies.

Sharks don't offer much in attack so it is a good time to do it. 4 tries might be enough

He hasn't got much speed or ball play so prob better for wing. Though given the outs let him ease into FG in his normal position.

They won't have asked the coach and even if they did, he wouldn't have told them. The team is announced on Tuesday, not Sunday. Even the fullback named tomorrow may not be the one who takes the field.

There is a lunchtime function for the NSW team on Thurs.
Whose brainwave is this? Players whose clubs play Friday should be excused from this function.

A friend of mine is a physio for an NRL team. I remember him telling me that there would be at least 1 knee and 1 shoulder reco per annum on average in both first and reserve grade so 4 season enders. That doesn’t include all the other injuries. Some times teams are just blessed/cursed (in our case) with outlier seasons.
