Freak Injury Ruins Eels Week

Parramatta Eels centre Brad Takairangi is out for up to 6 weeks following a freak off-field injury. Unable to sleep, the 2nd generation Eel rose early on Monday morning and began to prepare a cup of tea. Unfortunately the cord for his electric kettle was tangled with that of his toaster, and as Takairangi went to fill the kettle, the toaster was catapulted off the bench and, realizing that the laws of gravity are quite strict, suddenly plummeted toward the ground, catching the big lad's right foot on its way. Initial scans suggest two fractured metatarsals, and a scar in the shape of a 'Sunbeam' logo.
