Innings without 500.

We have now gone 33 test innings without scoring 500, and only passed 400 five times in those innings. A couple of them dont count as we finished 1/19 and 1/100, but still very poor stats.

Our last 500 score was in March 2010 vs NZ.

I wonder if any test team has a longer drought scoring 500?

Seems a rather pointless issue imo. There are too many factors preventing such a feat, namely batting 4th, pitches, if a run chase was achieved under 500.

Didn't you hear Langer the other day??? Our batting has been great the last few year people are only focusing on the negatives

Actually - there were only two innings which didnt really count. 1/19 vs NZ and 1/100 vs England (1st test last year). Any other innings cut short we were no chance of 500 (EG - 8/310 vs SAF last month). Another way too look is its 16 tests.

You win the toss and bat first you aim to score 500, youd probably need 2 hands to count how many times England, Safrica, India etc have done it in the last two years.

You can now make it 34 innings. Or another stat.

In only 13 of our last 32 innings have we passed 300 (Not including the two innings which ended prematurely).

And anything below 300 youd probably consider a poor batting effort.

There have been 21 Innings of 500 or more since that match against New Zealand - 8 by England (4 against us last summer), 3 by India, 3 by South Africa, 3 by the West Indies, 2 by Pakistan, and 2 by Sri Lanka. 8 of those have been this year. There were a further 34 innings of 400-499 over the same period - 7 by India, 6 by us, 6 by Sri Lanka, 5 by England, 4 by Pakistan, 3 by New Zealand, 1 by South Africa, 1 by the West Indies, and 1 by Zimbabwe. Conclude from those figures what you will.

550 I think. They put the scorecard up on 9 yesterday. PA announced our first 600 here in 50 odd years

Sydney 2000 was the test VVS Laxman made a century and about 90% of their total?

They got roughly 150 and were all out by tea day 1. We declared at 2pm on day 3 for around 5/550 i guess and then declared, and had them bowled out that night. Not sure for how many but Laxman had 175
