Don't care who you are.
Most of what you have written on this board makes me think that the word "Legend" is far from the truth.
But that's just what I think.
Suity
same way we got rid of willie tonga ay
i spoke to steve witt in a pub in parra late last year after he had signed with the knights and he told me that smith said"as long as dykes is at the club you wont get a shot"....and that was said early on in 2003 ...after his good form in the trials and the 7's...the guy was nearly in tears......he told me he had no choice....the guy realy wanted to stay at the eels.
parra pete said:Good question. Some of these people obviously live in Fantasy land. Nearly in tears? Is that how he reacts. No wonder he was cut loose. Anyone with any guts would have dug his toes in produced the goods and demanded to be resigned by his attitude and form on the field. If he bawls when he is told the truth, maybe he should be pulling beer at Wee Waa with Jamie Lyon. These sooks need to have a REAL GOOD look at themselves.

did you read the post properly pete?...obviously not......."as long as dykes is at the club you wont get a shot at 5/8"....in other words his form in premier league meant sh*t!...no matter how good he played it would be all for nothing.....try playing with passion for the game knowing that in the back of your mind it would get you nowhere.
The guy truly loved the eels and wished he could stay and if he was nearly in tears it just proves how much he realy loved this club.....probably more than some first graders at the moment.

As I recall Dykes was injured for a while last season.
The reason s.witt was not re-signed
inconsistant form
injury prone
Please tell us who you are oh great one. All I've noticed about you so far is how good you are at putting shit on everyone who disagrees with your opinions.parra pete said:redeel said:parra pete we need people of your calibre at the club you seem to know everything maybe you could coach, select and bring through all trhe jr talent yu seem to think your a legend

Most certainly could (with Brian Smith and Fitzy's help..) after all they are TWO of the BEST in the business at seeking out and DEVELOPING talent. Steve Witt would still be the water boy for Newcastle if it wasn'y for Joey Johns injury.. The let Rudder go to England and picked up a reserve grader. Someone should be calling for the head of Mick Hagan.
And thank you, a lot of people DO consider me a legend.. and so would you if you knew who I am.....

I am someone who has had Parramatta very close to my heart for 45 years (been a supporter since 1958)
A lot of people who know me DO regard me as a LEGEND, although MODESTY prevents me from describing myself that way.
I have been there done that through the good times and the bad. Been fortunate to witness the great years of Ken Thornett, Ron Lynch, Grumpy Hambly...Can remember every game the Eels won in 1958, 59, 60 and 61..they were few and far between, BUT I have always admired the SPIRIT of the Club and the FACT that it has NEVER had a WHIFF of scandal. It is a credit to the Coaching staff and administration that players come to Parra and when they LEAVE go away, BETTER players and PERSONS. The Club's welfare officer, John Hutchinson is an absolute ASSETT to Rugby League and society and one of the unsung heroes. When people want to bag Brian Smith, they want to remember how much he has developed the earning capacity of players who has come under his control.
I would not SWAP him for any other coach in the competition, The Club showed tremendous foresight when they signed him to a TEN YEAR deal.
