Does anybody know the Ireland World Cup Squad?

Is James Taylor (Warriors NYC) in the squad.

I have been told by a nortcote supporter (his club side) that James Mother or Father is straight from Ireland.

He is proud of his Irish Heritage - and made himself available for the World Cup.

Did anybody watch him over the weekend? He basically steam rolled his team in to the Grand Final with two tries.

He is the only player in the Junior Warriors that has no Polynesian Heritage. i.e He stands out as the Big ass white guy.

He still has another year in 20s ...so potentially could be around and available for Ireland for some time.

But apparently got knocked back when he put his hand up earlier this year or something.

But after steamrolling them in the GF...he should at least be on the radar.

Apparently announced in a few hours. Ireland RL said on Facebook that Warrington has the largest contingent of players. So I'd say it's likely Chris Bridge and Ben Harrison are playing for them again.

Fielden retired through injury earlier in the year.

Agreed about no Irish produced players, but to be fair the best Irish players right now are at Championship One level which isn't really good enough when you consider Ireland's opponents. I'd still have liked to see someone like Matty Hadden included in the squad but to be fair any Irish products would have been well out of their depth in this group.

I thought Kostjasyn was Russian/Polish. The Irish must be on his mother's side.

White made himself available for Ireland last time but was injured.

Jeez with all these heritage rule selections it seems we haven't learnt much from the 2000 WC which was widely ridiculed.I am going to support Samoa in this WC at least they will be rewarding domestic talent.

You were seriously expecting Ireland to feature a bunch of amateur players from the Irish league against Australia, England and Fiji? There are more-or-less all full time players, and the vast majority are Ireland regulars. I'd much rather see this team putting up a good fight against the top nations than a bunch of amateur blokes being smashed by 120 points and potentially hurting themselves.

Only 9 of this squad are uncapped, and 6 of those are young players who have had a breakthrough year and realistically wouldn't have been considered for selection before. Another is Brett White who would have played at the last WC if it wasn't for injury, and another is Kurt Haggerty whose brother represented Ireland. The only real 'ringer' in there is Kostjasyn, it's a huge difference from 2000 where the teams were filled with random Englishmen or Australians who never played for those nations before or again.
