Our kicking game has suffered due to it's predictability, with the one-playmaker policy and slow dummy half play. You almost always knew who the ball would go to, and it became pretty easy for other teams to put on pressure or shut it down.

If our forwards can get the roll on consistently next year, it will make it easier for some kicking options/skills to develop.

While Witt may well have been our best kicker of late, he had a major flaw in his long range kicking in general play - he would take a longggg time to kick the ball from when he received it - his head would be down watching the ball onto the boot (as you do) for far too long - this left him prone to charge downs.

We need someone who can get good metres without needing alot of time to line up the kick.....and preferably a topedo punter rather than a drop punter (well someone who can do both would be good), cos topedos come off the boot at a higher angle and get charged down less.....u see I believe Steve Price's success of late will see the charge down return as a big part of footy.

Kicking game in 2005!!

I think we will once again struggle in this department of our game unless Blake Green plays first grade.

IMO Green far excels in this area on comparison to the other alternatives.
Morris has a great bomb as used successfully at 5/8 in 2003 but he did not use it last year. PJ and Riddell are intelligent kicker's around the rucks but don't really have the capacity to make too many (if any) 40-20's, and Tim Smith well for mine the verdict is still out on his whole game.

We need someone like Andrew Walker who continually puts the pressure on the opposition by turning them around from both penalty kicks and general play kicks.

Let's hope someone can deliver, my guess is Green!!!

PJ Marsh actually delivered a fair few 40/20's from memory at the Warriors.

Dont ride of Smith. He has a developing kicking game and will only get better.

As long as we have Smith, Marsh/Riddell, Morris and even McKinnon on the field at once, we'll be sweet. Even Burt can kick it way downfield.

I think everyone has missed the point!

Yeah sure we have plenty of kicking options but of those options we don't appear to have a top shelf kicker! EG Anasta's long kicking game or Sherwin's short.

I can't remember the last time I saw a Parra player use a torpedo long kick down field. Sure Morris has worked out the Torpy Bomb, I just hope we see him bring in the long kicking game into his portfolio of abilities in 2005.

I actually thought Thorman was our best kicker in general play this year. He found turf consistantly which gave our chasers time to get up and in the face of the opposition, unfortunately IMO that was about all he was good for!!

Watch out players develop their kicking games next year. Trust me you wont have anything to worry about. ;-)

I thought Morris' kicking game, together with Dykes' class, kept us in the match against the Cowboys at Parramatta.
