Is Chairman Spagnolo now a confirmed liar?

Just thinking, now that the Board has sacked DA following the end of season review of operations...

Spagnolo came out in the media after Ossie's trip to Melbourne to meet Kearney became public, and he was quoted as saying that DA would serve out his contract.

Given that Spagnolo is reported to be one of the Directors present who voted unanimously to cut DA's contract short, does that make our esteemed Chairman a proven liar? :shock:

Bart, He said he would "honour" his contract...... yes its a play on words but its based in deceit. He clearly indicated that DA would have his contract honoured by paying him out for his final year of the 3 year contract BUT he would be sacked from coaching the Eels for 2011. Terry (sevens) made it very clear for all to see yesterday that the Eels is a multi million dollar business..... and that is the ONLY mindset of 3P... The stars include Van Heflin, Everett Sloane, and Ed Begley.

The head of the corporation represents 3P (and their agenda) and the love of humanity ------ well it becomes very obvious who represents Para Pete, you, myself, heaps of other forumites and tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of other Eels fans.... where we are really coming from.

I guess we have all learnt a valuable lesson in regards to when the board comments about the coach.
'full support of the board' is merely a nice sugar-coated euphemism for 'goodbye coach'.
I certainly won't take anything the board says at face value in the near future that's for sure.

I don't know if we can call him a liar. He certainly comes across as a sneaky bastard though. I've heard some things about him which makes him sound dodgy as and I for one certainly don't trust our club being in his hands.

By twisting words knowing that hundreds of thousands of Eels fans, members, players, etc, would not be happy and will be shocked, angry, upset, etc, if he & 3P confirmed they are sacking Daniel Anderson back then, and instead, deceived everyone, by the play on words, saying that Daniel Anderson would have his contract honoured, he & 3P avoided speaking the truth. They were unwilling to tell the truth so that all Eels fans and members, etc, knew where they stood with 3P on this matter back then. Through Spagnolo, 3P was telling everyone a LIE, they were unwilling to let others know clearly and honestly where they stood on this matter!!!!! It was a clear, present and blatant lie to say they were honouring Daniel Anderson's contract. A BLATANT LIE CREATED TO SAVE FACE AGAINST A MASSIVE REACTION FROM HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF EELS FANS, PLAYERS, MEMBERS, etc, BACK THEN.

i honestly don't remember the exact words, but if he did only say "honour his contract" then maybe we all just jumped to the wrong conclusion - perhaps the media took their usual bit of creative licence and presented it like he was safe???

obviously the players took it the wrong way also cos they were running around telling the media they were assured Ando would be here next year

I think they are all liars. Ozzie said he went to Melbourne without the knowledge of the board. The board always knew DA was doomed, and sk would get the nod. Once again our spin doctor CEO took the heat off the board.

I was no fan of Fitzy. I votes for 3P. But even I can see they are not smart operators. Hopefully some new blood will come forward soon.

U guys are a joke! Do u expect him to come out over a month ago and tell the media that we are to sack the coach before any investigation is conducted??? I guess as mentioned previously all will come out soon.

Stop being fickle supporters and start supporting the team and club, if unhappy in a couple of months time u have the chance to vote against the current board. Let's just now support who ever is playing or coaching the mighty eels.

I think that the odds of the CEO making a trip to Melbourne to sound out a new coach without the knowledge of the Board to be unlikely. How do you know that Ozzie wasn;t just the fall guy for the board when the details of the meeting got leaked ?

Yeah, if the quote was about the contract being "honoured" then I see what you guys say about Spagnolo perhaps not being a liar (technically).

But he's clearly not a dumb man... so if it wasn't a straight out lie, then he seems to have a deceitful orchestrated way of going about things. Nothing good can come of that style imo, least of all a good "culture".

And that style is something that I personally wouldn't want the new coach or anyone else having to deal with around our club, if the Members can help it....
