Must confess I'm a fan when he turns up. Can be devastating on his day... But the question remains....

CAT OR ALL THAT?

please discuss

Football. Seen the guy do freakish things, then bludge. He could rip other forwards apart. Maybe he needs to get mean?

Never rated him tbh. He's one of those people that gets hype because they look different i.e. Jamal Idris with his goofy hair.

his athleticism is freakish for his size. as are his ball skills. i'd have him at the Knights. not sure about his toughness, but the rest of him is quite a package.

If he wasn't 30kg overweight no one would give a shit about him.

Another one in the funny name/weird hair/odd size brigade

Maybe he should just be a centre and bedone with it? If he's a Semi being powered by a 2 stroke wouldn't you rather have him out wide a bit? Seems like coaches have written him off as a forward only. If I can recall he has some pace on him too?

^^Nailed it.

He has all of the above plus an unbelievable ability to be lazy. Watch him warm up the next time you're at a game where Souths are playing. He spends most of his time lying down or "stretching".

Anyone who thinks he gets attention just because he looks different or is big, either has no idea, or is blinded by hate for Souths/QLD

Depends on the job you give him.

If it's playing at prop and running at other forwards then he is average.

It it's being a wide running back rower, running at and over back's and setting up centres and wingers then he is near unstoppable.

People tend to argue that just about any forward can run riot out wide due to the size difference alone but the fact of the matter is that most centres and wingers are the size of back rowers anyway. They also tend to jam in well and get numbers to tackles very efficiently so you need something more than just size nowadays. Taylor has a great short passing and kicking game as well as his sheer bulk. He is capable of hitting a hole or putting on a bit of footwork at the line as well. Most of these are qualities that would be wasted if he played at prop.

Besides all of this, the fact is that when he runs out wide you need two men at least, to bring him down. When he has all these other ball promoting qualities in his game as well, that makes him a dangerous proposition.

The speed of Origin doesn't suit him and he has also played a bit tighter than he would like. I think this is why he hasn't really blossomed for QLD.

If he had the ability to play in the middle as well, he would be fantastic.

He is great at hitting the edges and getting the offload, but if his side is struggling for go forward he does not have the ability to get in the middle and rip in to help get the team out of trouble.

He is a decent buy, as long as you already have forwards that offer you go forward.

For someone who is 122kg and claims to have the ball skills as a 5/8 I would expect better things from him. A 105kg backrower can bend the line more than dave Taylor can.

there's a reason the broncos didnt fight for him and souths seem content to let him go. all the skill in the world but he doesnt seem to have the drive/heart to always give his all. i've seen him do things the best ball players in the game would be proud to do but he struggles to do the tough stuff. if RL was like NFL you'd only use him when you were near the try line.

when he's running at other big blokes he struggles, when he's up against players 40kg lighter than him he seems fine...

He is terrific when he is running at speed onto good balls.Does not matter if there is a forward or half in front of him he will be hard to contain. He is average getting balls from a standing start , especially in the middle of the field when he has a pack of forwards in front of him.
I thought he was used hopelessly in Origin 2.
